keep the 4x4, and get used to the fact that married people do not have to do everything together. my wife wont go off-roading or hunting with me either, and i LOVE it. alone time is crucial.

i love having a 4by. i've needed it a myriad of times. 90% of those times, my spouse was at home.

yeah I don't go "offroading" for fun very much at all because I prefer bikes, but the 4x4 is nice to have for the snow and even getting around in my driveway after it rains.

    keep the 4x4

She's not asking, telling or suggesting that I get rid of it. She just won't go with me unless it's relatively level ground. I can go off-roading with my friends anytime but I tend to drink (my personal issue that I can't control well) when I'm off-road and I end up regretting it. It's like off-road = beer and alot of it. So I got this bright idea..."if I sell it, I can buy a newer model that stays on-road primarily and I won't have to worry about the "off-road = beer" problem. I'm like Frank the Tank.

Yeah guys...I don't control that very easily when I'm off-road. It's easier said than done.

I don't want the wife DD'ing off-road for me, I can handle that. I just thought it would be a good time if we went off-roading together. I like going with friends because they can handle it but they are the best influences either. They too are very thirsty when we hit dirt and the problem is that we have so much fun we can't recognize when to stop having fun.

    That's not bad advice.

The filp side to me wanting to sell it is getting a newer truck. I love my 1st gen but I also like the 2nd gen's

well it sounds like you pretty much have your mind made up. If you think you're going to like the 2nd gen more than get it. You're the only one that can make this decision.
