I am about to send my stuff off for hydro dipping. Do the 2 pieces on the steering wheel pop off? Don't want to damage anything if I don't have to. Thanks for your insight..

If you mean the Toyota emblem then no. It's like plexi welded to the airbag cover...you would need to literally break the emblem off and paint it and had reglue it back on to the steering wheel

What you have to do is take the 2 small torx bolts out that hold the air bag in place. On each side of the steering wheel will be 2 plastic covers you pop off ( one is around the cruise control set lever). Lift off the airbag assy but do not disconnect any of the wires. You can now get to the screws that hold the 2 upright silver pieces to the steering wheel. Before you do this also good idea to disconnect your battery cable.

OP How does this paint hold up as far as fading with sun and scratches are concerned?

Lift up one corner of the emblem and use a razor blade to slice the little plastic pieces that hold it to the wheel. Be careful cause the black slices real easy.
That's pretty gnar-kill but must work better than hacking up your steering wheel. I made a few slices to the black and used a lighter to heat and re-smooth the cuts.
    Thanks brotha man
Dude that's badass. I wanted to do that too nut seems like a major PITA and expensive. I just ordered some Weathertech floor liners in black so hopefully it has the same effect.
Thanks man. Makes it look way nicer without all the gray.
    Thank you sir!
Fading is not an issue. I've been parking outside for about 2 years now and I don't see any problem. Scratching... just don't let your dog get to it. My dog has caused a few nicks which I fixed with a sharpie. Other than that, it holds up pretty well. I've hesitated doing the sills and kick panels cause that shit will rub/chip off no matter what.
Thanks broski! That's what I aim for!

I loved this write up. I just finished doing my dash and next I'll do the console. I did an orange and black paint theme to turn my truck into an Oregon State Edition. I think it looks pretty sweet. naqu5y4y_480c70a4014942d4f2f4c4a3416eea4ca132608e.jpga6y9ezyg_8a3ba79ddbb481510220f00cb531cf43058bbf12.jpgyva3ute2_ce92f1b0fd9fc30b38d32fcf56882eac826e19a2.jpg

That looks fantastic! But I'd call it an Oklahoma State edition ;-)

Appreciate that Mtniner. And birry, sorry man, but it's all Oregon State for me. Haha. You should see the outside of my truck. I get people taking pictures of it all the time when I'm stopped at lights.
