I'm not preaching here, just posting my own perspective. In 2000, I owned a silver 1991 Nissan pickup. It ran on 195-75-14s, which were 25.5 inches. I painted my steel wheels black. It had a 140 hp 4-cylinder. If I had modded it, I would lifted it enough to install 30s, added running boards, and a skid plate. It would have been nice to add a leaf and haul a little more.

Today I own a silver 2015 Tacoma. From factory, it looks like it has a small lift and runs on 30s (245-75-16s) on black alloy rims, running boards, a skid plate, and features more hauling capacity. It has a 165hp 4-cylinder.

As far as I'm concerned, Toyota modded my truck before I bought it. I didn't need to add anything but a hitch receiver.

Many people don't realize it but the Tacoma is a great truck out of the box. If you don't have very specific needs, then it'll do most of what you want just fine... barring a few very minor personal "mods" of course. I had my current truck for over 3 years (bought new) before I did one thing to it. I imagine my next truck will be the same.
