Really disappointed in the front and rear SO CALLED bumpers. My 2002 had real bumpers, NOT plastic over a piece of metal behind it. Thought ordering chrome on the back would be metal...plastic also! In the 2nd generation, how have they held up? Not overly impressed with the slick composite bed. A bed mat is my next purchase. The seating material is nothing special either. I scot guarded the entire flooring and seats twice. Plan on putting covers on the seats also.

Stuff you didn't notice before you bought the truck? What's there not to like about your bumpers? Have you damaged them already? I haven't had a problem with my "plastic" front bumper. it shows less blemishes than my "chrome" metal rear bumper...

If you have a cargo management system in place, the slippery bed surface can actually come in handy! Sliding bags and boxes and camping gear in and out takes a lot less effort without the mat. Having it slippery stock with an option of a mat at least gives you a choice!

Plastic bumpers are on most new vehicles...thanks for the sarcasm...lol!
I'm guessing your truck is mainly driven on concrete? My truck spends time in the woods a large amount of time. The front plastic bumper covers at most 24". To the right or left a little bump by just about anything...damage. After warranty, a real full protective front bumper for me.

They're called bumper covers for a reason.

Not much of a cover for protecting the whole front end.

    It isn't for protection.

It's a cover over metal behind it...yes I realize it's a plastic cover and I don't care for it. Have you had any impact on "the cover" and how well has it held up?

My 4th Toyota truck, not new to these trucks at all. First with this style of front and rear protection.

Yep. It's to keep the point of impact low and minimize risk of injury in other drivers in case of a collision.

Wish it at least covered the whole front of the truck.

Yes, I have had a few run-ins with mother nature and my covers are doing shockingly well! As long as you don't nail something at speed, they deform and spring back not too badly! I have a small car for my concrete jungle duty....

Not trying to disagree with you on cheesy looking plastic bumpers, pelfreybilt aluminum ones are 1000000% more awesome. Pretty and functional. Why doesn't toyota pair up with them for bumper R&D?

The after market bumper, won't it void the warranty?

Because the automakers have to meet 0edestrial safety and crumble zone standards set by the government

    On the bumper cover, yes.

    Otherwise, no.

Believe the aftermarket bumper is $1000.00, will have to wait for now.
