Is any one a pharmacy tech here in AZ? My wife is interested in being one and she has narrowed it down to 2 schools she wants to attend: Arizona College of Allied Health and Sanford-Brown College.

Has anyone gone to these schools? Whats your take on them? Is there a better school to go to?

    All opinions are welcomed!
    Thanks!

School? I didn't know pharmacy techs had to go to school. I'm a tech here in Virginia. CVS hired me and I did my training through them. I didn't know they had schools for this lol.

They don't have to go to school, but my wife would like to go to school for it.

How did you get hired into CVS? If possible, she would like to go through walgreens or CVS' program as well. But, she has been a stay at home mom for the past 6 years, she is a certified cosmotoligist and her las job was working at a bar 8 years ago. She doesnt think they'll hire her. Thus the inquiry about schooling.

Well I worked at Wendy's before CVS, so they will hire anyone. I attend VCU with my major being pre-pharmacy, so that may have helped me get the job.

    I just applied online.

I'm a Pharm tech here in AZ and have been for 3 and a half years. I work for Fry's Pharm. and they are in desperate need for techs right now due to walgreens loosing a billion dollar contract so i would have her look into them too. you don't have to go to school. I also just applied for the job and got it. They like if you are certified but you dont have to be before you get hired it just looks better. i wasnt certified before i was hired but i got a $2 raise as soon as i did. If you have any questions for me feel free to ask.

Im not sure about AZ, but Im a tech in San Diego and you definitely need a license to work out here. It takes about a year, but I make way more than 15 an hour. Great career choice. I love being a pharmacy tech. Just make sure she works inpatient, so shell have to work in a hospital

My wife has been a Pharmacy Tech with Walgreens for 6 years. My wife says that your wife needs to get hired on at the Pharmacy at Walgreens and she will receive the training through the Walgreens Pharmacy Department. If there are training classes offered she may be sent to the classes.

I'v been a tech for 9 year and 6 years at walgreens. at first it was great but now it's horrible at walgreens. I am switching to in-patient pharmacy in a hospital, cause walgreens is (Hi-tech Slavery ) now. Do hospital pharmacy if you can, but the truth of the matter is they won't hire you if you don't have experience so it might take a little time before you can get there. Anyways GOOD LUCK !!!!
