Whiter/brighter/dimmer arguments aside... I do not see as well on the back up camera screen with the LEDs installed. Things seemed much better lit with the incandescent Silverstar 921s. My theory falls to pieces. Gonna give them a few more days but I think they will be coming out.

When did you buy yours? I wonder if the bulb has been "updated" since you got yours. Honestly, it was pretty bad on the screen. Def not a lens problem. They are very clean inside and out. Hmm...

Good point. I never thought about playing with display controls (contrast, etc).

I have had the 5w cree ones posted above and now the philips ones. The cree ones are definitely brighter but light goes mostly all backwards due to the design, which is great but I like a little side view too. The philips bulbs were a tight fit but they did fit and due to their design, light up backward and sideways which is better overall for my purposes. I used the crees in the RAV4 since the rev lights are higher up and the rev camera loves it. Also have had the SS 921s and they were just a bit whiter than oem but not much brighter if any.

I've got the Phillips. They show up better in the camera. That is all. I'm happy for the money spent.

Be sure you're on the Apps screen (press the apps button to left of screen). Then press (1) setup, (2) display, and (3) camera. Then adjust as necessary. I'd kinda sucks cause you have to put it in reverse and look at the image- then go back into the display settings, then back to reverse to check it. It's not a live view. But mess with the settings, you can tune it in a little better for the LED's.

Not sure where you're at, but they work AWESOME in snow.

If you must go with this bulb instead. http://www.amazon.com/Philips-White-Vision-Back-up-light/dp/B00P2D41OQ/ Oddly enough It is EXACTLY the same except without the "extreme" branding and sold at half the price. Search candlepower forums for in depth conversations verifying that claim.

You might find that LEDs arent all they claim or appear to be in spite of apparent brightness when it comes to actual tested lumen output, light available to the human eye, and dispersion compared to other technologies.
