Phoenix police seize 50 assault rifles, 800 pounds of pot

Authorities said they arrested four men in connection to the search and seizure of three homes, where nearly 50 assault rifles and 800 pounds of marijuana were found.
Phoenix police officers responded to a call about a possible fight about 4 a.m. Friday morning at a home near 27th Street and Indian School Road. Officers found a broken arcadia door in the back of the home. The officers went into the home for a welfare check on the occupants.

However, police did not find any occupants inside the home. Instead, officers found nearly 100 pounds of marijuana as well as what appeared to be blood stains on the floor, Phoenix Police Department Sgt. Steve Martos said.
According to Martos, police have yet to identify whose blood was at the house.
Detectives from the drug enforcement and home invasion/kidnapping enforcement units were called and assisted in the investigation because officers suspected the house was the scene of a home invasion and drug rip-off.
While executing a search warrant at the home, Martos said police found items leading to a second house near El Mirage and Camelback roads. It contained an additional 300 pounds of marijuana.
Police found additional items in the search that led to a third house near 107th Avenue and Indian School Road.
After obtaining a search warrant, police said they found that the third house contained 49 AK-47 assault rifles, six large tote bins full of AK-47 banana clips, 400 pounds of marijuana and two handguns. All of the guns were in shipping boxes.
Martos said the homes were linked stash houses. It is not known if the suspects lived at any of them.
The suspects were arrested after being found in the second and third houses, Martos said. Police do not know at this time if more suspects are at large.
Police said Victor Vazquez-Venegas, 25, Juan Carlos Rodriguez, 27, Jorge Armando Valenzuela Hurtado, 27, and Manuel Trinidad Casinova-Lopez, 25, could face charges of possession of marijuana for sale and misconduct involving weapons.
Further information regarding the initial call to police was not available.

Just an example of how the bad guys will always have the guns they want. No doubt they were purchased illegally.

    Good find by the police.
Just a question what do police do with all the drugs they find? I was watching TV the other day and they showed a DEA warehouse full of like 50 tons of different drugs and it made me wonder.

    No mods whatsoever!
After the court proceedings are complete and it has no evidentiary value, we take it to the incinerator. It requires alot of documentation and photographing and/ or videotaping to CYA.

I think the war on drugs is a completely useless waste of $ and manpower but I am glad that the police found those guns. Now if they would only auction them off...

I guess that is the only way, but it seems a little funny that they burn all that junk then probably shoot the smoke out of the chimney for all the little birds to get high.
