I haven't found a convenient place to stash my phone while driving. While I never use it while driving, I like to have it visible and easily reachable. I tried the bin in front of the double cupholders, as well as the one behind the shift handle, but neither really worked well. Then I remembered the GoPro mount.

I don't plan on getting a GoPro, at least not in the near future, so I started looking for a phone holder that will attach to that. There are a lot of them, with reviews all over the place, so I'm hoping some of you are using it for that purpose and can provide a recommendation for one that works in the Tacoma.

I'm actually getting a new phone tomorrow (Moto Z Play), but would prefer a more "universal" type so I'm not locked into buying a new one when I get a new phone. The Z Play is about 3" wide, so pretty comparable to most phones these days.

+1 on the Hondo garage mount... it's literally perfect. tight grip, perfect location and built well.

unless you have ape arms, the go pro mount seems a bit far to reach.

Well, part of my logic is that keeping it out of convenient reach minimizes the risk of me being tempted to use it when I shouldn't. Really, with the phone linked to the truck via BT, I can do most of what I need to do via the vehicle's touch screen, and I can use voice commands for the other things (assuming the voice control on the Z Play is as good as it is on my current Moto X).

After you said this I checked. Please pass the bananas. Not even a slight stretch.

I got one on Amazon. I can't find the link. Go pro phone mount should find it. Also ape arms (36in sleeves). Nice to use to take videos of drives too. The hondo one looks awesome but $104 for the whole bundle seems a bit much.
