Underground garage clearance is the reason I need the tent inline with the roof.

I had a Tepui soft shell mounted on top of my cap (see avatar pic) - and averaged about 21 mpg per the computer, driving from California to Connecticut and back last summer. TRD OffRoad, automatic, 4wd.

What about their new sliding tray? It would work pretty good since you wont have much access to the bed from the sides.

Doesn't matter. None of their options will mount to/through the tonneau the way I want, nor are compatible with the FrontRunner rack I'll be using without wasting room. At this point I'm going to get custom-made brackets/feet to mount through the top of the bed sides (or possibly welded to the sides of the aluminum, retracting tonneau I'll be getting) and attach to the FrontRunner rack on the other end.

I also very, very strongly suspect that the drawer slides in their solution will become borderline impossible to use after a few trips on dusty roads. I had drawer slides mounted on my roof rack to slide out my solar panel, and despite being about 99% sealed-in via weatherstripping and aluminum, after a few days in the desert they just about lost all smoothness and barely work. It'll be the same thing with the basket's slides.

My envisioned setup will both give me access to the bed's contents, and allow for storage (drawers) between the tonneau and rack. Will probably mount my MaxTrax right beside the drawers, too (underside of FrontRunner rack). It's going to be glorious!

    What hasn't been modified?
Do you have a wind faring to help push air over the tent or just the flat wall? That wound make a big difference

I saw a 1-2 mpg loss when it's sitting 6" above cab heights with no faring

Anyone know what bed rack this is and if it's available for 3rd gens??? I like that it mounts to the bed instead of the bed rails.

I'm in a dilemma of having a short bed but wanting a hardshell RTT mounted flush to cab height!!!

We have a CO guy who builds custom racks that bolt to the bed. Getting a custom one built by a fab shop is probably your best bet. Mobtown may be the closest to you for shipping.

That sounds pretty sweet! I just stumbled across this thread, and am looking for something similar. Any chance you've got your build going?

I know this is an old comment but I have seen some racks from Brute Force Fab that mount directly to the bed mounts that way. Could be one of there’s.

Anyone have more hardshell RTT photos of their trucks? I’d like to see them, how you mounted, and set up your rigs

That’s a nice set up looking at your build. Your tall short bed voodoo rack, has that held up well holding the iKamper? The owner told me I need to get the heavy duty rack. Did you mount a Prinsu rack on top of the voodoo rack?

    Any feedback on the iKamper?

It has held up great! I don’t think the heavy duty rack is necessary for me and my needs. Yes I did a Prinsu directly on top of the voodoo and I really like the combo. This rack is solid, and hasn’t noticed the iKamper at all.

As for the tent. Great customer service and they have been really good at making things better, but I went grouch some headaches with it being a kickstarter. Unknown fees for import (they have since eliminated them), they sent the wrong color (gave me a free annex to make up), and I even just won the insulating tent in a review raffle that they did. Now that they have the bugs worked out, I would recommend them to anyone.

If I could change one thing, it would have been with the voodoo rack. I have seen pictures of the long bed version on a short bed and I like the increased coverage. Other than that I have zero complaints!
