How'd the xterra treat you? I've always liked those.

It was a serious labor of love. I loved where my Xterra took me, but it was north of 100,xxx miles, and the maintenance issues were vast during my six years of ownership. Great community of loyal owners, forums, and aftermarket supporters as well.

However, my six year takeaway was that Nissan never really intended for the Xterra format to thrive off road as much as I personally used it. The dust and vibrations took their toll on the electronics and intake system (replaced my MAF three times = $1,000).

I replaced my ECU, IPDM relays, cam timing sensors, ABS sensors, transmission, cooling system (Strawberry Milkshake of Death), and the list goes on and on.

I have other friends who still love their Nissans, but they are all under 100,xxx miles...so the clock is ticking. IMHO.

Traded in my first new car purchase, a 2017 Ford Fiesta ST for my Taco. It hurt to see it go, but I will be paying off the Taco in half the time, and my insurance is cut in half. I’m 22, so insurance on the ST alone was near $300 monthly. Financial guru Dave Ramsay got into my head about having car payments; couldn’t afford it cash but paying it off in less than half the time of the ST is fine by me.

9 years ago I traded the old family truckster (2000 Honda Odyssey) for the 2006 Tacoma. The truck now has 178k with peeling clear coat but stills runs like a champ.

The boat didn't run and I had started to hate rangers. Besides it's crummy quality, I was the only non-methhead driving a ranger around town

98 to a 15. Both with the much maligned 2.7. Both are 5 speed manuals.

300 a month for insurance???!!!!!! Jesus. I looked at getting a new M3 and at 23 mine would’ve been around that much.

Yep. Clean record too. Hated to see the ST go.. but I’m hoping at 25 my insurance will go down and I’ll be considered “low risk”. So they say. I guess I’ll have to wait to have fun until then.

Came with MGM topper. Added FJammer stereo. LED Bed lights on AOB Flux Capacitor Switch. Added AOB Spy Mode switch for TBD lighting, stay tuned.
Sold my 92 2wd I4 reg cab today to fund the 05 2wd I4 reg cab that I bought last month.

    Things I'll miss:
-So much visibility out the back window.
-Pulling compatible parts from wrecked 4runners. Really wanted to do a front clip swap.
-The dream of someday swapping in a 1UZ.
-A clutch that feels like driving a car.
-The space to walk around it in my garage.
    -Sturdy tailgate.

Things that are so much better in the Taco:
-Way more comfortable seat, even if it is just a bench.
    -Less body roll around corners.
    -Better available rim options.
    -A/C
    -Power Steering
    -More speakers.

All in all, whitey will be missed, but it's a quality upgrade. Even though it's 13 years old, it's 13 years newer than what I had. Lucky 13's.

What issues did you have? I had the generation prior (9th gen) before they went turbo. I’ll always have a special place in my heart for the K series naturally aspirated 8th and 9th gen civics.
