just an unsolicited opinion:I always use Discount Tire. They have the best prices and the best service if they're available where you are.

I like the way my truck rides with 255/85 E rated tires better than the stock tires. Sure, it's a little rougher, but I put taller M/Ts on for a reason and it's nice to feel the difference.

OP you should seriously consider 255/85s, in either a C or E rating.

I went with 245 75 16s, E load. Gonna have them installed on friday. I wish I had a picture of them on a truck like mine so I could see them fitted to make sure that's what I wanted.

20 yrs in the biz, thats easily patchable as long as it's not long enough to have damaged the inside sidewall. Unless you need excuse for the wife to let you have new tires, then it's unsafe.

Truck cap , husky liners, deflector shield, ARE truck cap.
Get you a plug kit from NAPA and fix that tire. Get the most mileage you can out of those old tires.

I am thinking OP needed an excuse to buy new tires. That hole is an easy repair. Sounds like an excuse i would Use to justify getting new tires. Lol. Heck, I justified buying some new rims with low mileage tires because i told my wife the tires on my truck were almost done and would need to spend almost $1k for new ones within a year!

Sure that size is right? That's significantly smaller than stock.

Why in the world would you buy new tires because you simply have to plug that one? 20-1 people here told you to plug it, you ignored them all. What happens if you get a screw in your new tire on the way to the wedding? More new tires? I don't get some people.................

I've had holes in tires I had to put two plugs in the same hole with two plug tools at once and they held fine.

    Yeah.
245/75R16 is what came on the 2nd gen base model with steelies. Dunflops. You do not want that size. 255/85 is what you want.

Well I was gonna use the muti quote function but since yall are being ridiculous now I'll just reply to all in one and you can decide what applies to you. Not once did I ask hey do you think you can plug/patch that. I asked about a specific tire brand and that was it. I'm glad all of you would patch or plug it. I'm not that guy. I've already got one with a plug in it and since my family always rides in my truck I'd rather have 4 new than 2 plugged. And I've been less than impressed with the stock tires off road performance. So I wanted something different. Thanks for the little bit of info shared.... the rest I could've done without.

Ran over something on the interstate last month - no idea WTF it was, but for the remaining 50 miles it took me to get home I watched as my left front tire's PSI slowly dropped. I was hoping I could drive it to work and get it fixed the next morning, but by the time I showered, dressed for work, and left the house again it was flat AF. Next morning - had AAA send a guy with an on-board air compressor, he took 10 minutes to inflate the tire, and I drove it to my local (half mile away) Mr. Goodwrench/Goodyear shop, who fixed it for free and had me back on the road in less than an hour.

I do have some shuddering at highway speeds now, though, and I wonder if they rebalance the tire when they patch or plug it?
