Hey, so I have this 2015 Toyota Tacoma with a trd supercharger, 7th inj. Cam sprockets, UCON-EMS, afe intake, longtube headers, and the URD spec-u cat back exhaust kit. There are no cats, just a resonator and magnaflow muffler, that coke with the exhaust kit. Personally, I don’t like the way this exhaust system sounds. I’ve been using this URD exhaust kit on the truck for a few years now and I’m ready to change it. I think the way it sounds now is just kind of wimpy. It has a high pitch and an awful drone, especially when passing on the highway. I do a lot of highway commuting, and I would prefer not hearing the drone. It is so loud that I can’t even have a conversation with my passengers at certain frequencies/rpm’s while accelerating moderately, or when cruising on the highway 75-80. Heck even when I throw the radio on its gotta be at full volume. To be clear, the exhaust sound bleeds into the cab pretty bad, tolerable, but annoying and higher pitched. My second gripe with the system is the sound it makes when I pass a curb or truck. The sound bounces back and I get to hear what it sounds like from other drivers perspectives. It makes me cringe. It just sounds like a riced out Honda civic. I was hoping one of you with a similarly modded truck has any good recommendations for mufflers? I don’t have a raspy exhaust, just an exhaust that drones REALLY loud. I don’t want to end up replacing the muffler and getting rasp or more drone.
    My Goals are
-eliminate drone (as much as possible)
    -avoid a raspy sounding exhaust
-lower the pitch/frequency (its high to me as of now) I want it to be lower/deeper
-quiet exhaust at cruising speed, but opens up and sounds like a mean v8, deep, rumble you know the type. Think 351W SBF

    TLDR: Muffler recommendations

With headers probably a TRD exhaust and a big resonator or the oem exhaust

The closest thing your going to find for what you're looking for is Borla S cat back. If you want a good rumble or growl from your V6 when you mash the skinny pedal throw on a CAI. However you're not going to find an exhaust that is going to make your V6 sound like a V8. Ain't gonna happen.

My loud muffler days are about 35 years in the past, that said I wanted a nice sounding drone free exhaust on a Ford 289 V8.
I put on a Flowmaster 50 series Delta Force muffler. It is a large muffler which is what is needed to take the sharpness out of the sound.

It sounds understated but nice when you walk behind the car and also when you put your boot in it but has no drone or resonance when driving and is probably no louder that the factory systems on some of the Dodge V8 trucks.
It does not have the (annoying) "ping, ping" sound of the smaller Flowmasters.

BTW: You are never going to get the low frequency sound of a V8 out of a small V6 no matter what muffler you install, they all sound like hair dryers with the exceptions of the old Buick odd fire V6 engine and the GMC "big block" V6 of the 1960's.

I did have another Tacoma with all the performance goodies on it, supercharger, cai, ucon, etc. put JBA shorties on and a 3inch exhaust from the headers to a dual in single out muffler. Then a 3inch tail pipe straight back past the axle terminating at the rear bumper. It was the best sounding exhaust I’ve heard on a Tacoma. No torque loss, no cats, nothing. Just headers and all 3inch pipe with a large flowmaster muffler.

The Tacoma I have now also has a supercharger ucon cai exhaust, has the long tube headers URD, and the equal length spec-u cat back urd exhaust. And yea it doesn’t sound great. I was looking into the 50 series, it is a big boy probably what I need.
I’m not sure if some of you didn’t read my og post. I have an aftermarket exhaust system in place already. Now I just want to mess with mufflers. I believe the exhaust that’s in there now is 2.5inch from the collectors to a y-pipe, then goes to a 3inch and has a resonator and magnaflow muffler (22” in length) and a tail pipe going out the side like stick would, but 3”. I would prefer not buying a whole new cat back system, because I already have a pretty good one. Gadget recommended it. Just the sound that the mufflers put out, no good
