    Hey all,

    So I’m fixing my mistake of buying a Colorado after my 4Runner was hit. I test drove the Tacoma and it’s something I should have done earlier. I foolishly bought into the 4 cyl hate. After driving the Chevy and have it match every worry I had with a 4 banger, I drove a Tacoma last night and was definitely impressed. So here’s where I could use some guidance;

    1) I want to get the Toyota 2.5 lift kit. I normally would not do this, BUT, since it’s warrantied I can see how the truck will react to those angles and if anything breaks its on them. Then later on down the line I can upgrade to a better suspension.

    2) I kind of want a manual. Was wondering if there is a performance drop with it. The auto picked up and went and was impressive. I could care less about start stop and stuff like that, frankly, it’s one of the features I hated most on the Colorado.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Toyota detuned the manual. You will have slightly less HP.

    I would 100% go with the manual. It is very slightly detuned. I wouldn’t worry about that at all, should still be way better than the 3G was.

    What year Colorado did you buy? I've driven a few of the latest gen and really liked them. I had much indecision between the Colorado and tacoma.

    I have a 24 trail boss. Engine is fast, but 2 solid seconds of turbo lag kill me.All the pedestrian warnings annoy me….Truck over all feels cheap. I can’t say its really the trucks fault as its done everything I’ve asked of it, but its just not for me

    I really don’t think I’m gonna miss the 8hp.

    I highly doubt anyone would even know if Toyota didn’t advertise it.

    TRD off-road auto doesn’t have start/stop. Toyota pretty much made everything better with the gen4 except the same driver side needle bearing. When you lift it,may as well get the ECGS delete kit.

    I’massuming(probably wrongly) That Toyotas kit would have one because they don’t want the warranty issues,no?

    Correct, but you absolutely will miss the 800 rpm up top. The manual has an absurdly low redline that is not limited by the engine. And then there's the fact that the manual is poorly geared in first and second. The whole thing is a train wreck of driving dynamics.

    Having said all that, yeah, get the manual. It's the last of the breed.

    as further clarification, only 2WD models have start/stop.

    If you have a turbo you will not have the S/S. It will kill the turbo faster.

    I say if you want it and the budget affords it get it and keep it long term.

    The manual is nice. 3 of my 4 vehicles are manual. But for me it is now just a novelty to have a manual. Probably also a theft deterrent IMO

    This isn’t true. All 4g Tacomas have turbochargers, and some have auto start/stop
