Thanks for the comment. Knowing people appreciate our efforts helps fuel our desire to keep making videos. We just upgraded to using a GoPro Hero 5 camera. The video quality is way better now but my old Macbook Pro is having big time troubles handling the file sizes so I'm forced to upgrade which will probably be a couple thousand or more to get a really good one. The editing takes a ton of time so I've been helping by doing the rough edits keeping the content I'd like to see in the finished product and then I hand it over to Sean to do the final touches to make it look a lot better.

I'm not a paid mechanic, I fix my own vehicles. Bad experiences with mechanics, particularly recent experience with dealership mechanics and my brother's Subaru WRX cause me to overreact, I apologize.

Mechanics at a Subaru dealership couldn't figure out why the car got a check engine light for a leak in the emissions system so the blamed it on the Ultra-gauge and charged for their incompetence. Unplugging the Ultra-gauge for a week proved them wrong. That's not the only case of them being clueless for money, he no longer allows them to work on his car.

I've rebuilt engines, you need a dial indicator to check the crankshaft end play among other things.

Here's a dial indicator and stand. (searching for dial gauges found air pressure gauges). This looks like it would be even more useful than the magnetic base for the ball joint test. I don't have a video camera or anyone to help make a video. I'll take some pictures next week of how I'd use the dial indicator to measure ball join movement.

I'll check out your utube channel. I'm thankful I have a Tacoma, the only non-maintanence issue is the resistor for the HVAC fan and I know how to fix that. I'm also thankful Toyota put it where it's easy to access and not buried deep in the dash.

Apology accepted. We've had the same experiences with paid mechanics I reckon. Thanks for the links to the tools. I actually buy quite a bit of tools at Harbor Freight because the price point is hard to beat and the quality is not that bad. I've used their 20 ton press for several jobs now and it's holding up nicely. I've bought one of their transmission jacks to help my buddy Sean with his transmission replacement and it worked awesome.

Check out the channel. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the video library we've amassed so far.

    Happy Wrenching Dave.

I've been happy with Harbor Freight tools. I broke an impact socket I'd had for years, they gave me another one.

I had SK tools before HF came along. The HF ratcheting box wrenches are nicer than my SKs. They have much finer ratchet teeth. I'm not sure what SK's warranty covers, it says wear and tear isn't covered. HF says if it broke we'll give you another one. Also I don't know where an SK dealer is.

    Happy Wrenching Tim!

    Pretty much stock right now
Hear you on the old MacBook Pro. Keep up the good work with the GoPro.

Good to have some feedback on the dial indicator. I should have one for fine tuning my woodworking machinery. Will look at the hf ones.

OP, apologies for side tracking the thread.

As long as you get something with 16+ gb of RAM and are using an external hard drive for storage and are using proxy media for editing you should be good. Keep those videos coming :)

Yes, I agree 100%, you're a trolling douche. What's interesting is there's very little of this BS in the 3rd Gen section T4R.org. Why people like to hate on others I don't get. I guess there's more positive than negative on this forum so I'll stick around but seeing asshole comments like this make me wonder sometimes if it's even worth it to try to help people and share DIY videos. But, like I've said before, there's assholes everywhere and this forum is no exception.

Some people are like water - taking the path of least resistance, which is not contributing and just calling people out. What you explain in your videos is crystal clear and though you are not a trained mechanic, I can personally attest that you pay more attention to what you're doing than a good number of them that have worked on my family's vehicles.

I want to thank @Timmah! for all the videos he's done and the knowledge he's shared with the community- and me personally. If you wouldn't have done those videos there is/was/would be NO way I'd be able to do all the stuff that I did (completely replaced front suspension both sides) myself.

    Keep up the good work.

Sorry for posting it here, can't post in FS section yet
For Sale - I can't get use to the smaller size. Decent shape, frame has been inspected/coated twice. 158k Miles. Manual Trans. LBJ's replaced. I have a fairly detailed service record from the local dealership. Check engine light on with emission codes. AC and Heater working good. No power locks windows. I'll throw in the 2017 TRD wheels and TRD Pro Tires (Nitto TG's with 4K on them) that I just picked up. $ 9,600 Will upload more pics later.

Well that was quick. Good luck with the sale, sorry to hear it isn't working out for you...if you can hit 50 posts you should be able to post it in the 1st gen Marketplace where it will get a lot more attention.

Can't get used to the smaller size in a day or two? I hope you didn't buy a lemon (rust bucket) and trying to pass it off ...

Wow, you assume the worst in people. No rust. I've put 500 miles on it already. Not for me.
