Because the gated shifter pattern is kinda dumb

Lots of new vehicles have something similar. It’s functional aero and I believe it creates an “air curtain” in the wheel well.

It looks cleaner than a giant vinyl boot though.

The shifter doesn't look to be that massive maybe in the picture it looks bigger, but actually in person it's pretty small it's not bulky or stand out-ish. And I do believe the Trd pro shifter will be different. The auxiliary panel is pretty big and it would've been nice to see something similar to the Aux Beam panel. And I'm sure you noticed that the battery has been relocated to the passenger side as opposed upfront on the driver side as previous models. I really didn't do a close inspection on the engine. I just want to take a bunch of pictures because I knew that this model was nothing that I was interest and I really just wanted to get the feel of the driving experience with the truck.

Like others have said, thanks for a great report and pictures. So far, you have given best insight on this new model. It’s not going to be for everyone, but I think it’s going to catch on because of Toyota name and reputation. As for me, sticking with 2016 SR5 which, so far has been bulletproof

I’m really surprised the design team signed off on these seats for the 2024 Off-road. If I was the VP, there’s no way in hell I would have.

I don’t really see what the problem is. They’re a two tone cloth seat with nice bolsters from what I see

Not a fan of the light gray portion of the two tone. Wasn’t a fan of the two tone style in the third gen either. Every time I see them I cringe.

Yes it did - my 2017 has JBL and cloth heated seats, with the moon roof. That's the reason I dumped my 2014! (along with the 20th century key ignition - LAME)

@Turd Ferguson that gated shifter in my 2nd gen was crap. I like the new ones. Glad THAT 2002 trend died along with the center mounted instrument clusters...

What's with the 2-tone light gray interior? On an Off Road? How long until the seats look like crap? It makes about as much sense as carpeted floor mats? At least the "port" and stealer are't adding those.

They're nicer seats than the 3rd gen got.

Im going to reserve judgment till I see a gen4 in person. Images and videos of the same trim level can look wildly different. shot from different camera lenses, ect.

Maybe it's just me but the blockiness of the body sort of resembles the new Frontier.

one of the first things I'm getting is some tough seat covers... not because I hate them, but because cabs get messy and knives are pointy and leather starts looking old and worn out after awhile. Thanks for sharing OP! confirmed the heated seats for me, although I may be regretting not waiting for a 6 foot bed to show up in my searches.

I test drove the Tundra mini yesterday, here is some side by sides with a 2.5 gen.

Not sure why my 10 year old truck has cleaner / more mirror finish paint than the brand new one.
