Made a pot roast last night. Gave me a chance to use my 'fancy' Dutch Oven.

And also Sage & Thyme, but the Rosemary is the more obvious herb.

My stable includes a Finex 12” skillet, Lodge 12” skillet, Lodge 8wt Dutch oven with feet, Lodge 10 inch deep pan, which is versatile because it is deep enough to boil pasta, soups etc. So when I’m over landing/ camping, I just bring the 10 inch deep and 12 inch skillets, unless I’m planning campfire cooking, in which case the 8wt Dutch is it.

    Here are a few pics.
Frosty one is from a morning while elk hunting, camped in my truck w/ roof top tent. Very very cold. The pizza one is my favorite way to make pizza at home. Though it looks like deep dish, It’s technically Detroit style, totally different taste, much less grease.

Rendered some bacon fat in my skillet, made some cobbler and a cream gravy for some rice today.

Made in my Dutch oven, served on my heirloom pewter. Peach and Pear Cobbler:

take a few dabs of that rendered fat and sauté some diced habaneros in it. Then use that spicy fat to cook something else. Gives anything a nice kick!!

Not quite as photogenic as the last time around (gluten-free crust is a pain to work with), but this week's Sunday Dinner of chicken pot pie was just as tasty as always.
And my locally-made (long, LONG before I was born) Wood, Bishop & Co skillet handled its cooking duties like a champ.
