What does the TW council say on sending it and moving forward with seasoning?

I have about an hour combined into the angle grinder with a flap wheel and working down from 80 to 320 grit on the orbital.

Me thinks it's as good as its gonna get. It's the most pitted I have ever dealt with, so if you've seasoned worse and had success, I'd love some words of encouragement

That was my thought. I know more time with the sander will make it smoother, but i have a batch of 4 pans to do and this is holding the rest up. I think the other 3 are going to turn out great and this is the most abused of the bunch.

The smooth areas are way more smooth than necessary. The pits will fill in with carbon. Bacon up!

Depends on the cast age and brand. Not sure I would torch a Griswold or wagner or a good BALTO with anything but vinagar and good old elbow grease.
I've used vinagar and rock salt to scrub out five of mine that went through a house fire. I think it's best to wash with Dawn and steal wool then heat to 400or more and oil with grape seed oil or coconut oil or avocado oil. Do that three or four times then cook in it.

This is the oldest I have ever restored, and I have already gotten after this one with all manner of power tools, so I am sure that I violated every principle of vintage cast iron restoration, but what's done is done.

I am on my second bake right now with flaxseed oil, which apparently has fallen out of popularity since the last time I did a batch of pans 10 or 15 years ago. Apparently grapeseed is the new favorite, and coconut or avocado as you mentioned.

    Edit: I think it's a Martin?

Oh damn. Nice pan. I just got shown the electrolysis method of removing rust. Very neat and no tools needed.

Just cleaned, washed, and dried in the oven. When it cools, it’ll see some bacon grease and get seasoned. My plan is to use it on the grill, I like fajitas!
