Did this last year towing from Indiana to NJ. It struggled on some of the Ohio and western PA hills but it did the job. I was cringing thinking about my auto trans temp though... I've gotta do some research on trans coolers.

Doesn't look like a lot but it's well over 3000k lbs with the trailer. Loaded with wood, garbage, railway ties and much more. Towed it pretty easy I was surprised.

Drove over an hour to pick up this TrailManor 2417 at the dealership. It weighs 2300lbs and my tacoma pulled it well. If the engineers said your truck can tow 3500lbs, then you should be able to trust them (I'm sure they are paid very well). From what I have read, it looks like the 2.7L should be fine. After all, this is the motor that made Toyota famous and is used world wide from the Afghan farmers piling up thousands of pounds of "stuff" to people in South America towing everything they can pack onto their truck.

When towing, the motor is the last thing I'm concerned about. .

I saw hiluxes in Uganda (of course, some were diesel) that were loaded down with more than what most with put on an f-250 here.

But, a hilux is more outfitted for heavy loads. Point being, the engine is fine its the other components on a Taco.

I tow my Kubota a few times a year. Trips range from a couple miles to 30 miles with various terrain. The loaded trailer is around 3500 lbs.

Just a brief mention from a first timer here. Being a former Chevy-certified, light and medium duty truck salesman, an observation after looking at many of the trucks towing 2000 pounds or more: Not wishing to preach (especially being the new guy) but nearly all rear ends of the trucks are squatting too much - stressing the rear axle components. Proper springs and shocks would solve that problem, plus make the trailers easier to tow. A FWIW.

BTW, the dealership I worked at was the closest to the tallest mountain pass on I-5, so our shop always had a wide assortment of broken down vehicles. The most common problems seen were burned tranny's (overweight trailers, and/or no tranny cooler) and rear end failures (improper load balance). On the bright side, both are pretty easy to fix. Tranny's just dip into your pocket for more. :)

What I towed, until selling the boat. Just over 1800 pounds loaded, boat and trailer. '01 Tacoma 4x4 AC, 2.7L, 5M. Towed the boat through steep S. Oregon mountains. The only thing I would put on my wish list for the truck is better brakes. Not that the boat pushed us around, just thinking panic stops would be more comfortable to handle.

Just took our new truck on its first camping trip. Installed a Curt hitch, would like to add a tranny cooler in the future. Climbed over 5000 feet in elevation on a 3 hour trip and it never even broke a sweat. I was doing the speed limit (or better) just about the whole time and even had to pass a few people going uphill. Our previous TV was a 3.3 V6 and the little 2.7 did just as well climbing Highway 50, maybe better even.

Tow/haul.... I'm primarily doing hauling with mine but here's the truck loaded up with about 350 bricks, 4 x 80lb bags of mortar, and ??? lbs of old rubble. Did a tear down and rebuild of a chimney. I love that my toolbox has enough clearance to slide bags of mortar under it! :D Just a little tricky to get out but it gives nice additional space.

Did a quick calculation probably truck was hovering around 1900lbs in bed + my weight + truck weight.... around 5900lbs total without issue.

Also why does my truck have this sticker??? : https://scontent-lga3-1.xx.fbcdn.ne...1_10109420268168964_8027600962854913076_o.jpg
