My Hobie 16 (~340 lb boat + 500 lb trailer and loaded gear box).

The trailer squats the springs more than I like, but it tows still tows very well. Then again we used to drag the boat all over Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan behind a Ford Focus getting 29 mpg.......

    About 2500 lbs

Generally anywhere from 1800 lbs to as much as 3000 lbs. handles it fine; works over mountain passes. I run ride-rite airbags. Wind does affect the 6'x10' enclosed trailer obviously.

25 mile trip and it towed good except for two small grades.....it downshifted to 2nd and slowed to about 30mph and trans temp went from 160 to 181

IMG_9079.jpg not sure on the weight but a couple of quads and a 4x8 trailer. Pulled it from the bumper this summer with no problems but will be putting a hitch receiver on this spring.

Quick question for you guys, If I decide to keep my current project car I'm gonna need to tow it to my fabricator to fix the floor pans. I'd be using a dolly to tow it there, car weighs about 3.6k with all 4 on the ground. I assume with using a dolly I could probably get away with it but input is appreciated, truck is a stick as well. It's about a 65 mile round trip with many moderate inclines. I'd put a hitch on it and wire a harness up for the lights, been meaning to do that anyway. Trying to save this POS from the scrapper

I don't see that being a problem as a one off job. Don't use 5th gear, mind your stopping distances, and use engine braking (downshift).

Alright awesome, I figured I'd be able to do it. Considering I towed that car home the first with my 89 crown vic wagon running on 6 cylinders. Wasn't fun, but it did it.

1988 volvo 740 turbo, dana 30 locker swapped in the rear, Stock B230FT engine at 22 lbs of boost, VW headlights, caged, gutted interior, 3 inch straight pipe from the turbo back, 4 speed with electronic overdrive. It's a fun little car.

Here's a pic of a pop up I bought last week. I thought it was 1850 bs. Turns out it's closer to 2000 with the options in it. Truck pulled it like a dream. image.jpg

Awesome info in this thread! Ok, so towing capacity at 3500lb. But what if I wanted to tow a Miata in an enclosed trailer for JUST A QUARTER MILE? 2100 for the trailer, 2300 for the Miata, that's 4400lbs. However, here's the catch, the quarter mile is a hilly dirt road, not steep, but definitely not flat on some areas. Do you guys think a Gen 2 4-cyl 4x4 manual 5-speed can do that?

Sweet! My commute just got ridiculous. I don't want to burn 4.0 Liter gas 98% of the time, just to tow a Miata 2% of the time. This is good news.

Just go slow and stop early....but why don't you just drive the miata down the road ?
