I am hoping someone has pictures to share of a cruise control setup on a 2.7L 1st gen. Specifically 1997. I am confused by internet pictures.

It appears that cruise and non-cruise earlier 2.7s have the same throttle body. It seems that the accel cable on the cruise versions goes to the cruise actuator assembly first and then a single cable goes from there over to the throttle body. Is that right?

Edit: here is a pic I found on tw of a 99 2.7 with cruise. Looks right.

Then, auto 2.7s have a different throttle body with a different looking cable connection (i.e. upper and lower-lower is for auto kickdown). See this pic from another thread:

It also looks like on this version the accel cable goes directly to the throttle body and then the cruise cable comes over and joins it.

Primarily though, if someone has a 1997-ish 2.7 and can help with pictures of the cable routing and assembly under the hood, that would be fantastic.

    Thanks!

My 99 has the Denso made cruise control. There is another version that was factory installed and mentioned in the FSM.

Like you mentioned, the throttle cable routes through the cruise control actuator and then connects to the throttle body. I have not actually seen a version like the picture you posted, but it could be the other version mentioned in the FSM.

The bottom cable is the kickdown cable that connects to the automatic transmission. This adjusts the pressure inside the transmission depending on how far the throttle is open.

Here is a picture of the routing of the cruise control on a 99 3RZ/2RZ.

Excellent, thank you! Mine is a manual transmission so the kickdown cable is not applicable. I should've thought of that. I will also do more digging in the FSM to see if I can find out anything more about the two different systems

Could someone post a picture taken from the same angle as the diagram above? I would like to see what that piece looks like where the cables cross right over the valve cover. Thanks

Edit: found a pic above that helps. There is a little spring/holder doohickey that mounts near the valve cover to hold the accel cable up
