Yeah I've heard of that trick before.... I think just putting the spare on would be just as easy though. :)

Kinda wish I had that on video... lol. I cut two cookies and barreled through that deep shit before I slid into the ditch. Thought I had more room! Haha

That looks like it's between Capps Crossing and Pebble Canyon (on the way back down from Capps Crossing). If that's the case, then you guys made it at least up above 5K feet.

I have gone down to 10 psi before in the snow. You really don't have to worry about popping beads unless your driving fast and turning erractically.

Hmm, I wonder if you made it all the way to Alder Creek Rd then? Long straight away with some tiny hills until you climb up a fairly steep stretch. Alder Creek goes off to the North in the last dip (it reaches hwy 50 across the bridge at the campground just west of Kyburz where the passing lane is). That's usually as high as we can go in late spring/early summer. I've thought that Alder Creek Rd might be a good one to do when the gates are open in spring. Start at Kyburz and go up to MET...all on dirt roads.

6600 feet is what I read when I turned my GPS on my phone, and no its not A-GPS, had a fix on 10 sats :D We were just starting out when I turned it on, so I know we climbed nearly a thousand feet after that.

Yeah, I don't know if the actual road name is Capps Crossing Rd at the lower MET end...basically the first and only paved road to Capps Crossing from MET after Bonetti Rd (all others are dirt roads including the one just before Silver Fork Rd at the top). Same road we did our first Snow Wheelin' run (uh, recovery day run) last year. So I was definitely talking below Piliken. But it sure looks like it could be that stretch along Alder Creek Rd.

i wouldn't mind doing a run up icehouse road soon.

Here's a pic i stole from pirate from last weekend by the rubicon area, lots of opportunities out there.

    Miraculously he didn't roll.
