Haven't loaded any of our bikes in the new truck yet so I'll crash this party with a pic of a vintage bike in a vintage truck...

Thanks. Been hauling bikes for years but I appreciate your advice. I use a fork brace as I do not like putting undue pressure on the seals.

Also, I do like a wider stance from the straps but am not real excited to use the cleats. If necessary, I would use a secondary strap running from one cleat, over the bars to the other.

I may also consider adding D-rings with backer plates on top of the wheel wells. All said and done...I should have 8 rings plus the adjustable cleats!!!

You can never have enough D-rings!

Toyota all weather floor mats. Mag light that clunks around in the jack compartment. Dog hair. Dog drool on the windows.
you actually bought one of those (Forget hat they are called) things for the suspension? I just took a two by four, cut it down and put two pieces together. I can't count the stories of people hitting bumps and losing their bikes because the bikes forks compressed and released. Or the stories of people having to rebuild their forks every year because they crank donw on the front with ratchet straps and kill the springs.

Homemade but made it look good I guess :D

I had a bike come off a trailer and will never let that happen again. We went around a corner, the bike leaned to one side and the hook came off the D-ring.

My solution to this problem is to run a bungee cord from one hook to the other so they always have tension on them and cannot release even if there is slack in the strap. I use soft straps on the bars and these will not release either.

You could also buy carabiner but I like my way.

Just an FYI...not using the fork brace is not bad for your seals. They are made to handle pressures much greater than that - like landing a 100' double on your front end. It is misleading when companies call them "seal savers" because it does not "save" your seals.
They do take the pressure off your springs so they better retain their factory rates. Obviously they make the bike more stable as well because there is no flex in the straps.

You definitely have to develop a process when loading two bikes. Like deciding to go over the 150's fender or under...which to load first...which to strap down first, etc. Once you get it figured out, it's no problem but it takes a few loads to get it right.

Good lookin' bikes! This thread is NOT dead - post more pictures if you have them.

I don't mess around with whiny little flimsy two stroke ktm bikes. j/k:cool:

    I ride a man's bike, big bad azz 450 4-stroke :D

It's for sale btw if anyone is interested. I am getting out of the dirtbike business, no public land to ride on anymore. No pictures of it in my new truck or in my old truck, I just don't take many pictures. My new DC is so short it will most likely be on a trailer from now on.
