    Hey guys,
I'm looking to purchase a gun i'm having a hard time deciding which one to go with? I want 2 guns but i want one full size and one compact. I'm debating over the p226/p229 combo vs m&p/m&p compact. I'm looking a lot on the size, weight, but i would also like to see pictures as far as comparing. I know someone here must have those guns ;). i'd appreciate it if you guys can put it up. Thanks in advance. i won't be buying for a while but i would like to do my research in advance.

I don't know if you're a regular handgun shooter, but the Sig P-Series and S&W MP series are two totally different types. SA/DA and striker fired are two different animals. But if you already know, then never mind :p

Above is the M&P taken from Smith and Wessons site. Below it is my P6, which isn't a P226, but almost exactly the same. If you want my opinion, it's which ever fits your hand the best. Sigs are so ergonomic, but the trigger pull on striker fired guns can be sweet if tightened up. I once picked up a M&P but the trigger safety drove me nuts.

If weight is an issue, the M&P plastic will win over the Sig metal. Not sure how they compare on size though.

I don't have pictures to compare but I have a Sig P226 Blackwater Tactical and a Sig P229. They are both in 9mm and I would recommend them over the SW MP! The size difference isn't too much. The P226 is 7.7L and 5.5H. The P229 is 7.1L and 5.4H. I carry the P229! They are basically identical guns except for the 229 is a little smaller!

Here's a quick pic from my phone of my P226ST and P239 (I no longer own a P229). The P239 and P229 are the same length, however, the P239's grip is about a 1/2 inch shorter.

The length of the slide on both the P239 and P229 stops where the rail ends on the P226.

If you're looking to conceal, between the two of these I think you answered your own question. Though these Sigs in particular aren't really of the concealing type.

I think a more fair comparison is: M&P/Glock/XD. All have full size and compact sizes for each model and are all striker fired.
