closest and most accurate is going to be what you were quoted,,, presumably by the folks that know what they are talking about and how to do it.
Despite what you are guessing, this is not an easy or cheap fix. This repair here, is a prime example of what insurance is for, hopefully you have that option.

ehh, I will listen, but I am more interested in the quote from the pros the OP received, rather than randos (not all, there are some body guys here) throwing darts in the dark

I just went through this on my new to me 2014. A tree limb fell on it and took out the mirror and put a big dent in the passenger pillar right where yours is.

The mirror and cover (black) were under $200 for OEM. The replacement is not bad (at least on second gen) you have to pull the door panel but the mirror itself is 3 screws and an electrical plug.

For the dent you could try this: I didn't really expect it to do much on the pillar but with a little patience I was able to pull most of it out with the glue tabs. It's not perfect but I can only see the imperfection it when the light is right.

Sorry about your truck and hope this helps some

^It can be done for a hundred bucks, but it'll be a rattlecan paint job on just the A-pillar.

    Welcome from Denver!

The mirror, all that, it can be fixed. Thats a pretty good dent & Im not sure if PDR is an option and or would cause the paint to fail. But it can be fixed one way or another. Id take it to a really good PDR guy & get his opinion. I had about $9k in hail damage & my truck was repaired perfectly. Good Luck!

A pine tree jumped onto the road and he hit it- see the needles?

I think that snorkel will fix it right up, costs less too.

Having once had a body shop in my family, for another quote, go find a smaller shop run by an old guy with just a few employees. Stay away from anyone with a dust free waiting room. :)

I received a quote of $3100 to fix both. They said they have to remove the whole pillar

sounds very reasonable, I would've guessed A LOT more,, but again I am just a random guy on the net that does not live in your area and knows nothing about autobody work,,,along with most here.

thing is, newer vehicles can't be just welded on anymore. there's dozens of different metal types that go into a cab to ensure that it deforms properly in a wreck to protect the occupants. the heat and weld beads would significantly and unknowingly compromise the capabilities and expectations of how the a-pillar would react in an accident.

best course of action? listen to the body guy, ensure they're using toyota's guide to vehicle repair. there's a reason to have things done right, and it's not always apparent until it's too late.

I got this fixed PDR...about 98% a tiny little dot is visible of you put all your effort into looking for it. Otherwise most won't find it
