Plastidip. I’m definitely not in the remove camp. It looks clunky without.

I like the looks of your truck but it would look way better if you put them back on .

I recall with FJ’s there being sub standard paint under the vinyl. It was a roll of the dice.
    Not an issue with Tacos?

When I took mine off the paint didn't look any different than the rest of the truck. That said, I'm assuming the paint is the same as the rest of the truck.

The paint under mine was just like the rest of the paint.

Not for me. Florida is hot enough on its own. If you don't live in an open-air sauna, careful use of a heat gun would probably help make it easier.

The OP could always remove just the damaged piece and if not happy with the look or the paint beneath, have a vinyl shop replace that piece to match the others. If happy with the look and underlying paint, remove the other pieces of vinyl.

Personally, I think dark colored trucks look best without the vinyl but, light colored trucks look plain.

Here’s with just two quick coats. I’ll finish it some other time. I ended up taking up most of my time taking off the trd 4x4 sticker lol. The color matches perfectly. I should of left the accidental splatters on so you can see how well the color matches.576D6183-18E8-4703-A71D-BC8194C6B4DF.jpg B14DF361-F6BA-4C9A-A6DC-A2CC467A6E60.jpg

Totally thought those were plastic or something and there wasn’t paint underneath. I think the truck looks better without them, adding this to the list of things to do haha.

Just vinyl. I had work done because of a deer and the b pillar vinyl had to be replaced. Took the shop three tries to get it right, the entire time trying to convince me the truck would look better without it. Being my '17 is super white I find it breaks up the vast whiteness pretty well.

I don't know, Toyota knew what they were doing with that vinyl. They knew the cab looked just like a second gen and did that as a way to make the cab look sleeker and updated.
