If you have never tried this when changing the pilot bearing give it a go next time. Took me 5 minutes to get it out. Required 1 slice of bread (your choice) 1 bolt and hammer. Stuff bread in behind the bearing, hamer bolt in lightly add more bread repeat until bearing pops out. Don't forget to remove the bread when you are done.

Why not use grease? It doesn't compress like bread does and it doesn't take much. This took 30 seconds.

I was low on grease and didn't want to run back to store plus bread is less of a mess to clean up.

Does Kroger brand work or do I have to spring for something fancy like Dave's killer bread? :p

I went with Safeway Hawaiian. It's delicious and makes a great tool.

Some PB&J with it next time and you can eat the tasty mixture once the bearing comes out with it

I managed this using damp napkins too. Took a while though, but it was my first go at it.

I actually tried using the bread trick when I changed the clutch in my '94 Ranger. I must have shoved half a loaf into that thing, it would have been funny if I wasn't so frustrated. Ultimately it didn't work and I ended up buying a needle-bearing puller (slide hammer).

It's cool that it worked for you, though! :taco:
