I get a kick out of how the media covers the rallys here in Phoenix. "Thousands of protestors marched to the capital today.... There were only a few supporters out here". The supporters of this bill have other responsibilities, such as a job!

For those of you watching in other states, there is plenty of support for this bill.

I support the heck out of it! I bet half of the protestors could be deported if they could go ahead and check em...

^^^^Anyone else getting tired of all of the PC'ness going around? Not trying to start another immigration debate on here, but historically, appeasing other cultures hasn't exactly worked in our favor. (events leading to WWI & WWII come to mind) and when did being on an opposing side of an issue become something to detain and harass someone over. People are all up in arms over first amendment rights and the guy cant express his? WTF over? I cant wait to graduate and get back to AZ.

Mods, sorry for that, but holy shit. Really?

As long as I can remember, If you are over 18 years of age, you are required to have an Photo ID on you whenever you leave the house. Doesnt matter what "race" you are.

here too...its necessary at times for police to be able to identify who you are...it can very quickly prevent someone from being jailed wrongly

just last night a guy was stopped here and his name matched (birthday was similar) a warrant we had on file

after being able to produce a legal ID, the officer was able to verify his SSN and current/former addresses...

it kept the guy from going to jail last night

say you're walking around in your neighborhood with no ID at night...and the police receive a call about theft or burglary...and they detain you...without being able to prove you live somewhere...you could get caught up real fast in that investigation

I don't think we necessarily need the military (NG) down there on the borders. I say, take the cops and agents away from the border too...Set up snipers about 2000 yards away from one another with their sites aimed south and play Red Rover Red Rover Come On Over...

...if Red Rover makes it, he gets citizenship...

"You tired, your poor" not "your lazy, your drug runners"
"your huddled masses yearning to murder the free"...I can go on...fact of the matter is open borders brings crime and for those of you who don't know, dozens of Islamic extremists exploit this border. This, for me anyway, goes way beyond Mexicans and drugs. This whole "sob for the masses of Mexico. They're looking for a decent job." Bullshit, a whole lot more is coming through that border than people looking for a decent job. Those seeking innocent occupations can apply for a green card.

Cops dont/are not, going to randomly check ID's. If you are pulled for speeding, and you have no ID, Me thinks you may go to the pokey until you can be propperly identified. 2 reasons:
    1. The cops dont know if your speeding to get away from a crime you just comitted
    2. You dont have any ID distinguishing yourself as a lawfull citizen.,

I haven't read the whole law, so someone correct me if I'm mistaken, but they're not just goin around willy-nilly askin for ID. I'm pretty sure the law says you have to be doing something illegal to begin with and get stopped, and if you "look suspicious" you will be asked for papers. Like I said, correct me if I'm wrong, but that was my understanding.

Why isnt anyone complaining about the Federal law, Which is no different than the one we recently signed, and has been in affect since 1946? This SB1070 is a simple enforcment law.

Reasonable suspicion is a legal standard in United States law that a person has been, is, or is about to be engaged in criminal activity based on specific and articulable facts and inferences. It is the basis for an investigatory or Terry stop by the police and requires less evidence than probable cause, the legal requirement for arrests and warrants. Reasonable suspicion is evaluated using the "reasonable person" or "reasonable officer" standard, in which said person in the same circumstances could reasonably believe a person has been, is, or is about to be engaged in criminal activity; such suspicion is not a mere hunch. Police may also, based solely on reasonable suspicion of a threat to safety, frisk a suspect for weapons, but not for contraband like drugs

x2. Arizona is just ENFORCING what our "politically correct" government is too much of a pussy to enforce anymore. I don't care if anyone comes here legally, but if they're coming illegally, as I already stated in a previous post, they don't have any rights. They aren't an American Citizen, therefore don't deserve the rights that Americans get. I don't care if they're Mexican, Canadian, Cuban, Iraqi, Irani, or British, if you sneak across the border to live in America illegally, you don't deserve the American rights.
