I am changing my injectors and valve cover gaskets. The plastic covering the wiring harness under the intake was breaking apart. Under the broken plastic I found this (see below).
Should I leave it and hope for the best?
Cut the wires in questiquestion strip them and install butt connectors with heat shrink?
    Or your suggestion of_______?20181215_182347.jpg 20181215_182338.jpg 20181215_182326.jpg

At least put electrical tape on the bad ones. Not a professional here... But I'd cut, clean & crimp connections. Some people cut & solder them.

You may only need to fix the 1 or 2 that have exposed wire or black heat burn. That burnt one might be getting hot because half of the wire is broken inside.

Solder, I wouldn't want to have to worry about a bad crimp coming apart from engine vibration

Solder butt connectors. Easy as can be.

True. Pros use non insulated crimp terminals then solder the wires but not beyond the connector barrel, then heat shrink.

Probably just a few though. Electrical Tape the rest individually as a precaution.

I'm just lazy, it's genetic. It walks in the family.

Thanks for the help, I'm on my way to get a solder gun now.

Just buy the butt connectors with solder in them. Twist your wires, slide connector over and heat. Solders and seal the connections.

I did not know such a thing exists! Unfortunately neither did the guy at orilies.

So I scraped solder shavings into the connector. Crimped it with some Kline long handle crimpers, then used a mini torch to try to melt the solder in the middle then filled the end with solder. Then I pulled the heat shrink up and made a nice clean connection.

After cutting the wire and stripping it, I found the wire in side was not damaged. Just the insulation on the outside. I think I will just wrap the others.

    Thanks everybody :hattip:
I learned somthing new and I will order some of those solder but connectors to have on hand.

Tacoma screw sells them. Ain't cheap, but make a great water tight connection. The railroad requires them on everything.

How we do it when we fix a fridge door wire harness is, soder the wires back together cover with heat shrink, rewrap the loom in electrical tape and slide then a nylon guard over it to help protect it.
