Pinstripes

I bought a 2018 DCSB TRDOR a couple of months ago and so far I love this truck. It is leaps and bounds ahead of my old '99 Ranger in every way. Are there complaints, yes, but overall it is an awesome truck.

I bought here in Texas and the truck has pinstripes on it (white/silver paint on blazing blue pearl). Just wondering if this was added by GST or by Toyota and is it over the clearcoat? If it is over the clearcoat, can it be easily removed with a clay bar? I feel like it is now or never to remove them to avoid leaving a paint fade line.

These pinstripes are hand painted and can be removed with clay bar.
Here in Texas dealers like them to make extra profit as add-ons.

 

Not concerned about ghosting on the new truck, my concern is if they start to come off or I remove them in 5 years, there will be ghosting.

For shits and giggles I walked out to the truck and tried to pick at the edge of the paint to see how difficult to get off. Turns out they are stickers! Removed all the pinstripes in under 10 minutes. Will have to get the residual shmoo off next time I wash the truck but that should be easy.

You can stripe one easy y painting the on. Either by the paint wheel or taping it off and free handing it.they do it around here for 40 bucks a car.

 

Do they also put dealer badges and stickers on the cars there? So glad its not a trend in California, we just get dealer plate frames that go in the trash.

 

They put all that crap on all the cars and trucks around here. I just tell them to take it off when they take it back to detail for delivery. If there's a pin stripe on the truck they usually have the cost buried in with some other "add-ons" like "seat fabric protection". I just subtract whatever that cost is from the final price or add it to my trade in. However they want to do it is fine with me, but damn if I'm going to pay out of pocket for it. If they give me the "but it's already on there, we can't take it off" line, I just tell them "ok well my trade in has the same crap on it, I forgot to tell you, so I'll need to be compensated for it". It mysteriously gets resolved after that.lol

 

The local Toyota dealer here in NJ refused to sell me a Tacoma without the pin striping! I ended up going to Delaware, and got exactly what I wanted, no pin striping, for a better price too!

 

Mine has pinstripes on it and i'm not a fan. A lot of people think it's marks from someone keying both my doors.

 

Didn't even notice the pinstripes until a few excursions off road.

Not on my truck, but i have seen on others. When i was shopping for a truck one on dealership refused to sell me Tacoma without window tint and WeatherTech mats for $1100 as their add-ons.

 

Wow. I thought pinstripes went away in the early 80's.

 

Can someone post a picture of said pinstripes. I’m curious to what they look like.

 

Here I thought we were talking trail stripes, because who does real pinstripes anymore? My truck has trail pinstripes.
