DFW! I guess pinstripes are a Texas/GST thing.

I wouldn't wait to wash off the leftover adhesive gunk. I'd get that off right away with the proper products.

Leaving it on will most likely have other grime embedding in the gunk....probable source of swirl marks in the future.....hate to start of the ownership of a sweet new truck with swirl marks.

I guess we'll never know as the OP didn't bother to post pics of his truck when asking for advice about the pin stripe situation.

Here's before and after. I also got rid of the Turd stickers and the badges. Not shown in pic, but finally took off the chrome tube steps as well. I've been meaning to do these things since I bought the truck but finally found the time yesterday.

Serious thunderstorms at DFW today. Once they roll through I'll get the residual goo off and clean the whole truck up.

I've bought a few cars with them and have removed them easily enough with clay bar and elbow grease. Can be pretty tedious

Yes you right, DFW and Dallas dealerships like to do pinstrips.

I am currently talking to a dealer about a 2018 TRD Pro. Same deal. Must be a Southeast Toyota thing. The dealer is trying to charge me for the "hand painted pinstripe". It is almost 2020. How are pinstripes still a thing?

I've had a car with hand-painted pinstripes and it was nice. This truck had stickers and it looked awful. Also, it had a small Toyota logo in the middle of the pinstripe, pretty tacky. I would honestly find out if it is truly hand painted and maybe then it is worth some money but not more than $50. Don't pay anything for stickers.

I watched the guy stripe my '17 here in NE Florida at the dealer freehand, complete with the little Toyota logo that he silkscreened on. Nice job, he had a good hand...

.... but a couple weeks went by and I decided against them.

Pretty much just wiped them off with alcohol on a paper towel.... took minutes.
    I followed up with wax.

Goo Gone gets rid of that residue very easy, then use and all purpose cleaner to get the oil off, then alcohol to get it absolutely clean. Don’t forget to wax, desk, or whatever you did to the rest of the truck.

I’m in DFW as well and ALL dealerships here, not just Toyota, add junk like pinstripes, window etching and other non-useful stuff army exorbitant prices. Was told that was nonnegotiable. When I walked out of the dealership the costs all of the sudden went away.

What's desk? seal? I got the goo off with a Nanoskin mitt and some bug & tar remover, then used M105 on a DA polisher to get everything perfectly smooth again. I'll seal with Klasse glaze tomorrow.

Dealerships make more off a pin stripe than an oil change.

I am so glad mine didn't come with any of that. When I bought mine, in DFW, i noticed that pretty much every single truck on the lot had the predator steps on it as well.

I'm actually looking for some Predator steps right now for DCSB. If you happen to have a set you don't want let me know...

Pin stripes are either paint or vinyl decals. Neither can be removed with a clay bar.

Typically they are vinyl decals and can be removed with a heat gun.
