I started off with a budget build and here we are...

I've read through some posts, but those are mainly the 6600 model. I'm going with the 7600 because it sits flush and has a larger screen.

Any tips and parts I need are greatly appreciated.

This is everything Crutchfield recommends. Do I still retain the factory microphone?
    Pioneer DMH-WT6600NEX
    iDatalink Maestro RR Interface Module
    iDatalink HRN-RR-TO3
iDatalink UTO3 USB Adapter - if you want to retain USB for wired carplay or AA
    Metra 40-LX11 Antenna Adapter

    Hardware I've already purchased:
CDT 2 way speakers (front) w/ brackets and wiring adapter
Focal speakers (rear) w/ brackets and wiring adapter
    closed cell foam (roof)
    Sound deadening (doors)
    foam rings for speakers
    cloth tape

edited 1/5 to reflect update on model and removed dash trim kit that’s not needed.

Factory mic will not work. There is a company called Tombit that makes a plug and play adapter to work with the factory mic , but it doesn’t play well with Pioneer radios . I used the supplied Pioneer mic and installed it behind my rear view mirror on the headliner and it works totally fine . There is also a company called extreme terrain the name a little bracket to install it behind the grate of your map light section . But all in all the pioneer mic works very nice .I have Nex8600.
Also Enfig car stereo sells a mic that will snap into that same area, you would need to call them because I don’t think they show it on there website. They however may show it now

By the way since you changing the head unit, see how it sounds. It will be much better for sure
But if you decide to go amps
    I went with 50 x4 and a 300 x1 regular amp
    Audio control micro amps
Then did a 10 inch sub . The key amp is an ok amp but since the pioneer radio has a clean signal and some DSP functions it wouldn’t be a good fit. You are better off using a traditional amp.
By the way with that set up the system really kicks !

    thanks!
I reached out to enfig. The part is on their site, but I reached out to them anyway since the description says 2016-18 and I have a 22.
When looking up the Toyota part for the microphone case/holder, it’s the same part number for 2016-22 so I think it’ll fit.
They replied asking me where the mic is located and I responded on the overhead console between the map lights.

That’s probably the best way to go with out having to do something custom. You could also put the pioneer mic in the same place but would need to do something custom. One way would be to put the mic in that location and then hot glue it I place with some packing foam behind it

for sure! I’ve been reading the tombit thread and seeing the different ways people have installed them.

I have about 98% off everything I need. I still have the meso puddle lights and other mods like the 360* camera kit I’m considering. I want to do it all at once so I don’t remove my door panels and headliner more than once.

Did you get this all done? I am looking into HU upgrades and considering the 7600, my questions are, does it work with the Anytime fronts back dashcam? And can I install any apps to the head unit specifically? I have a Garmin powerswitch that I’d love to be able to control from the screen to power up devices on/off.

bringing back this thread.. @venezian , did you install the7600 yet? I am in the market for a new HU and considering Pioneer 7600 or Alpine Halo9. Just curious, thanks!

Kind of. Went with the 6600. Internally they’re identical, i forget what the 7600 had, but it wasn’t needed for our trucks.

you also don’t need the dash trim kit.

You have to tap the reverse trigger wire yourself. The harness does not come with the pin. Gray wire on the 28pin connector to the purple/white wire on the RR adapter.

You need to drill out the dimples and a hole for the bottom screw to the right of the letter A and above the simple. You can line up the bracket and you can tell where to mark for the hole. If you screw up, you can always make the hole a little bigger and add a washer.

A couple things left on my to do list to finish this. Speakers and mounting the mic to the OE location. Someone mentioned that the pioneer mic will fit perfectly in the spot. I’m going to secure it with hot glue to encase it. Maybe even some foam if there’s room.

I have the pioneer mic sandwiched in foam. No glue. Works well enough. I hate talking anyway.

the 7600 has a floating screen vs the 6600 w a fixed mount screen. Same basic thing. 6600 flush mounted seems to be a decent plan.

I have a 2016 and run a maestro and Germes, didn’t have to mess with the reverse trigger. I saw some having trouble with that part. Bummer.

I love my Germes as much as the pioneer.

what does the germes allow you to do?

I may have missed on the features, but I opted not to go with it because I can program the mode button to trigger front and R cam. I did not care for physical buttons on the dash.

Mode double click goes to camera. Default is front. Down arrow to back. Hold down or up to set front / back indefinitely. Otherwise it times out and goes back to non camera mode.

    auto rear in reverse.
    Auto front after reverse.
Auto done w camera mode at 15 mph? Or 15s?
    it’s perfect really.

Looks nice! fits perfectly. I am still exploring my options between Kenwood, Pioneer, and Alpine. Are you happy with the sound quality?

I have not replaced my speakers yet, however, it’s a night and day difference with just swapping the HU. The OE speakers still suck, but they suck a lot less with the Pioneer. Best of all the speakers are now balanced. The power output to the rear speakers is almost mute on the stock HU. Can’t understand the logic on that.

My original plan was to keep the HU and go with the key amp which IIRC has the same output wattage as the pioneer HU.

I think it’s 50 rms watts per speaker. Which is plenty for the balance and clarity I’m going for.

Kicker Key just to power the speakers? Are they driving your factory speakers or did you swap them out?

Kicker Key just to power speakers and I replaced my factory speakers with Focal speakers (front and rear) with Kicker/Subaru tweeters. I haven't installed the Pioneer head unit yet though

If you don't mind, can you bypass the amp when you install the HU and compare the difference between HU powering speakers and the amp?

I have focal for the rear and CDT audio for the front and tweeters to install.

Sorry for the late response, I have decided to postpone buying/installing the headunit until this summer. I need to save until then but I ended up installing a mono amp and 8in subwoofer though. I will get back l to you in a few months.
