hey guys i found someone in gainesville selling this for 400.00 with the hookup for my tacoma. What do you guys think?
I was really just looking for a way to hook up my ipod to with a USA spec but is this a good deal and worth spending the extra 270.00?

    is this a good HU?
is sound quality on a aftermarket that much better?

I dont really have a huge want for one its just one of those things where its like i might as well go big or go home but im not sure if i will like it..

Thanks for the help guys sorry if im all over the place i need to get to class!

Go for it! that's a good deal for that unit as long as it is in good shape...
The HU will add much better SQ then the stock radio.

I have a Z3 and Pioneer has been great! But time for an upgrade here soon. Just incase someone is interested, it has the bluetooth, ipod connector, usb connector, and 2009 maps.

Install was a lot easier than I imagined. I also had help though. Pretty basic as long as you have your wiring harness and the faceplate. Just a couple extra things like speed sensors, gps, bluetooth etc..

If it helps, I sold a D3 at the end of last summer for 500 shipping included. I included the bluetooth and ipod cable. I would have also included the XM radio tuner at that price as well however he didn't want it. I actually wish I had kept the D3 and put it in the Taco but I sold it when I demodded my previous car. Overall pretty good HU. I got mine back in 2008 right before they were discontinued for 600 bucks and had it in my Impala SS. The nav could have been a little more accurate but overall it was a good HU and I loved it. Sucks the guy I sold it to had it stolen out of his car a week after he installed it, however the insurance company actually gave him 300 bucks more than he paid me for everything lol.

A great resource for the Avic series of headunits is avic411.com so perhaps you can check that out and see if anyone has recently sold any D3's and how much they went for.

It's a great unit, I went from a single DIN (Alpine CDA-9883) to the Avic-D3 and I'm extremly happy with it. Some people will complain about loading up the NAV disc and not being able to play a CD, but that's what an ipod is for.....so you won't be fumblin around with CD's. I keep the NAV disc in the player and just use my ipod. AVIC411 is an excellent site and there are install tips for by-passing the brake system and you can upload pics to your home screens (AV, NAV, Home), this is probably the coolest feature. I have half naked women on mine. :D

I think $400 is on the high side for this unit, unless you are getting everything (Bluetooth, XM/Sirius radio unit/NAV Disc/both harnesses/Ipod hook up/etc.)

You can find these for $250-$300. If you buy it, I'll help you out with any questions you have.

I'll try to post a pic of it so you know what it looks like installed tomorrow.
