Alrighty...I think I have everything I need (except the bluetooth steering wheel controls) so I'm gonna attempt to install myself next weekend.

I was quoted $700 for the install! Insane...

$700??? That is insane. I think the instructions that came with the unit, and all the info you can find around here, and you just found yourself an easy $700 doing it yourself.

Hey, I can't help you answer any of these yet, as I still haven't found the time to get mine in, but some of the issues you are talking about, are discussed at Avic411.com. There is a forum just for this unit, and I remember seeing some of these topics come up. One of the biggest gripes over there about this unit is the ipod library and VR, and I think there are some solutions to those over there.

Anything else I should buy to make installing this myself easier. Is there any kind of plug and play harness out there?

Make sure you get a wiring harness adapter for the unit so you can plug right into the factory wiring for power and speakers. While the harness isn't "plug and play", it makes matching up the factory wiring a lot easier because you don't have to cut into the factory wiring. From the research I have been doing, the only wire you "may" have difficulty understanding is the "illumination" or "dimmer" wire. The AVIC110BT has an orange wire comming from the unit, and the Metra harness you get to connect to the OEM connectors has 2 orange wires for "illumination or dimmer". Make sure to use the orange/white wire, and cap off the orange/black one.

That is as close to plug and play as you can get. If you have a steering wheel control, the SWI-PS is not plug and play, but there is a lot of info around here to help you with it.

Call them up. Do you have a photo copy of everything that you sent them. Ensure that they out in the right information into their system.

Yea seemed shady so I called the 1800 number on the form they sent me today. First I got a recording and it told be the serial number for my product was an invalid item not eligble for rebate. After that I worked at geting a real person on the phone. They said they were missing the last two digits from the serial number I cut out from the box, well that is impossible because I cut a large square out around the code.

She put me on hold then came back saying they were gonna make an exception and allow the rebate. The whole thing was BS but as long as that check comes in I will be happy.

I just got the same call from Toyotaworld about the BT parts. He said it would be about 3 weeks and blamed it on TW saying someone must have posted the part # which caused so many orders. I said I didn't have a problem waiting because although I got the Pioneer yesterday, I'm still waiting on:

    Scosche Dash Kit
    Wiring Harness
    Overhead Monitor (Fed from HU)
    Metra power antenna

I'm going to be a little busy next weekend.

He said the same thing to me.

I told the guy when I first ordered the parts a couple weeks ago that he would probably see more orders and he should really have more in stock. Since he was getting mine from Japan, why not get a few more??? I ordered mine around the middle of April, and just got a shipping confirmation yesterday. So it looks like it only takes a couple of weeks to get them.

Ok I got the sound stage thing figured out so thats a non issue now. I like the sound sage though it does put out a nice sound. I just cant toggle it.

FYI for those with iphone, android platforms or the like they have a sirius sattelite app you can download for a free 7 day trial.

I think it is $3/month for a subscription and as long as you are in an area with good 3g coverage you can listen to Sirius broadcasts through your BTaudio

so far this is one bonus I am seeing with BTaudio. Why buy the sattuner and then pay the subscription fee when you can just use your phone.

Well I was able to install most of it this weekend. Four hours Saturday and 8 hours today. Luckily my wife is very understanding since it sucked up most of Mother's Day.

Saturday was taken up with the overhead monitor and power antenna install. I wanted to get that monitor properly set and getting the old antenna out took up a lot of time.

I hooked up the SWI but did not program it yet because I'm still waiting on the BT controls. I've seen a few posts saying there is a lot of room behind the HU but man that was tough setting it in place. It may have something to do with having two sets of RCA cables hooked up for the overhead monitor.

I kept my laptop by my side the whole time constantly referring back to TW for guidance.

I didn't get much time to play with it but at first glance this is a very impressive unit! Nice picture and it really makes the factory speakers sound about 100 times better.

I hooked up the back-up camera and although some find the picture to be a little degraded, it looks very good to me. Only problem so far is that when it displays the back-up camera, a faint black line scrolls through the picture. If it gets real annoying, I might try to figure out why, however, it's only for viewing when backing so it's not crucial.

Mine says Your rebate is valid and is scheduled for final processing.

I called them and they said it will take another 2 weeks for me to get mine.

I received my rebate check a few weeks ago.

I FINALLY attempted to do the install and when I turn my key on nothing happens.

I used a Crutchfield harness and all the colors matched up (except the dimmer - org/blk) which I just left unconnected.

I moved the yellow mute wire over 1 spot and grounded out the ebrake (light green wire)

Any suggestions on where to start troubleshooting? I'm tempted to just pay someone but you guys all seem to have no issues getting hues installed, so I feel like a chump :)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

One more question. I bought the Pioneer camera but it has a funky square connector but the Avic has and RCA Jack for the back up camera connection. Do I have to cut off the connect and solder on an RCA? (the stock camera wire is a 3 wire-red,blk & brown)

    Thanks again

    Mark
