In case anyone is considering adding the Pioneer Blind Spot Monitor, I can report that my installer did a great job and the thing works great. Instead of using the license frame mount, he hung it under the trailer hitch. I am amazed at how well the thing works.

(Before anyone asks, I already have convex mirrors and they work great, too)

    Here is an unpopular thought.

Why don’t people point their mirrors at the blind spot?

    I do it.

Essentially when a car is just about to vanish out of my rear view mirror, I pick the car back up in my side view mirror, then my peripheral vision.

Sorry a bit of a rant.

It’s difficult to talk about blind spot monitors without the thread devolving into a discussion of mirrors. Mirrors are great. I like BSMs too because when I am in a rapidly changing traffic situation and my attention is getting pulled all over the place the BSM is like a second set of eyes. My reaction time is not as quick as it was 50 years ago. Mirrors are first, foremost, and indispenable. BSMs are secondary, optional, and reassuring.
