My wife's company is having a BBQ at Pismo Beach today, not sure my 255/85s Pizza cutters are gonna like the sand.

Love that tire size, puddle. Looks great. That'll be my next size tire if these Michelins ever wear out.

If you really are worried about the sand, just air down the tires to like 15 psi, or maybe even lower and you'll be just fine.

Just air down to like 10psi and you're good.

Yea, thats the plan, bringing my air compressor and shovel. I have driven up Afton Canyon on the Mohave trail on these tires, even aired down had to stay on it or they dug in quick, I was loaded down with four days of gear, we'll see.

Oh cool, so you're already familiar with sand and airing down and stuff. Sounds like you know what you're doing, sounds like a good time. Let us know how airing down and to what psi, etc. works out.
Edit: and cool pics to share with those of us that aren't as lucky to be out there is never a bad idea :bananadance:

Let us know how that goes. I'm getting the same size and was curious about them in the sand

And of course he ghosts us all  never to let us know if he had any issues or if it went better than expected. I was looking into getting some pizza cutters as well roughly around the same size, I assume 33's?, and was curious how good were these in the sand as I live near some beaches and would love to take it out once in a while to some somewhat secluded spots.

    7 year old post.

255/85/16 are super popular for being forgiving when it comes to clearance, size, and being E load.

I've aired them down to 8psi plenty of times and loved that tire size.

    Many others have as well.

There are tons of posts, and even a dedicated thread to this size.
