Huge thanks and mad respect to @TripleThreat (and whoever else was involved) for setting up last night's run. It was my first off-road group trip and it was amazing. Everyone was super friendly and a good group of people in general. I would love to ride and hang out with you guys any time!

Anyway, looks like this years Pismo Jamboree is September 18th-20th. Unfortunately, I could not go last year, but I am committed to go this year. Last years's thread
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2014-pismo-jamboree-sep-19-21.340385/

I don't really know if this is a real thing, but seems like it is. And even if its not, we can turn it into one. Does anyone have more info?

The Jamboree is a blast! Good group of people and very well organized. There is a big raffle, recovery clinics, and lots of organized runs. I went 2 years ago and plan on making it this year. The majority of people are from Norcal. Lots of Land Cruisers, 4 runners, and 1st gen Tacos. I was the only one from this far south and the only one with a pre runner. There are guys that normally start a thread each year and quite a few TW members go.

Here are a few pics from 2013

All right. Im going for sure. Let start head count

    When: September 18-20, 2015
Where: Oceano Dunes SVRA / Pismo Beach

You must have a flag whip. Flag height must be 8ft off the ground.

I found a bunch here and they are inexpensive. Feel free to suggest other sources

Whatever you normally camp with. You are close enough to town that you could eat out the whole weekend if you wanted. If you don't reserve your spot online, make sure you have cash for the camping fee. They only take cash.

There is no sign up for the event. You have to pay to camp there. It's $10 a night. You can go on line and pay in advanced, or pay when you get there. They only allow a certain amount of vehicles to camp, so on busy weekends its best to make a reservation. Don't think we will have anything to worry about though.

A radio would be nice, but you don't need one. It keeps you in contact with the group, and In case you need help. Very easy to get stuck, or lost.

If you plan on camping instead of staying in a hotel, bring something heavy to weigh down the tent stakes. from what I understand it will be windy. Also, there are no designated camping spots with fire pits or tables, so you may want to bring a folding table, maybe a pop-up tent with side walls to cover from the wind if needed. Can probably park the trucks in a circle around your camp spot.

I'm probably rolling down with 6-8 people and multiple cars. Planning on getting there on Friday morning around noon to get a good spot.

I wanted to go to this 2 years ago and last year, but was never able to find the time to go. And now this year I just may have free time but one of my coilovers is blown and leaking. Lame.

Depends on the time you leave. Can take between 4 1/2 to 6+ hours. I drive up to Paso Robles a lot to see family and pass right by it al the time.

The key for 2wd in the dunes is to always keep your speed up and never hit the brakes. Park on downhills so you don't dig yourself in when taking off. And just be super careful.

The sand just feels softer there than in Glamis, I had all types of issues getting stuck when I was a 2wd there. If you are driving in towing a toy trailer just keep your speed and you'll be fine...well until you park and try to go again. Just don't try to cross the river at high tide and get yourself washed out to sea lol

No, I'm from Indiana. But my only living relatives (grandpas brother and sister) live up there. I've been going up there every other month helping them out with their farm. They are way to old to be doing a lot of what they think they can. They are off Peachy Canyon.
