With 33" tires and I lug around a 22" solid rubber fork lift tire, in the bed of my pick up for added weight in the winter, I still am getting 17mpg.

OP either has a hole in the gas tank or doesn't get how to calculate MPG. If your phone can't do fuelly, record your odometer and gallons at each fill-up (and be sure not to do a partial fill-up). If you post 3 fill-ups with miles and gallons, I'm sure someone one here can do the MPG math correctly for ya.

Using the gas gauge to approximate how many gallons used is the equivalent of me saying "I only have $20 in my wallet cause it looks half full"... imo.

Good job! i obviously realize that mpg would be low but to have a full tank give bout 220 miles is obviously not what is advertised

    lmao :D

But seriously, i did a full fill up n am guessing bout 240 miles for a full tank divided by 21? The amount of gallons used to fuel up.

The OP is completely ignoring you guys when you say his math is wrong. It's obviously not him that's wrong, it's all of you.

These trucks usually get between 16 and 20. I'm closer to 16 no matter now I drive (v6 manual). If the wind is on my side I may scrape 18. Don't buy a truck if you want good milage. I drive all types of trucks for work and they do no better (granted they have V8s and are bigger bodied). A truck is a truck, not a yaris lol.
PS its totally senseless to calculate milage from the fuel gauge. You need to use the odo and fill until it spills (as was already mentioned).

Uhm, you didn't use a full tank unless you left it on the side of the road!

Miles driven by gallons used, not total capacity.

Since purchasing my '11 PreRunner DC SR5 V-6, I've measured each and every fill-up to gauge what kind of gas mileage I've been getting. My low is right around 17 and highest was just over 20. Average is right around 18.5-19.5 mpg, which I can live with.

Of interest, there was a noticeable improvement once I installed a Leer 700 tonneau cover a couple of months ago. I'd guesstimate the improvement right at 1.5 mpg on average.

OP I hope you don't plan on doing any mods I'm at 16mpg and dropping. Obviously you didn't do your research. This topic is probably the most talked about one on this site. If you turn your truck off at stoplights and walk into the fast-food restraunt instead of the drive thru and park as soon as you enter a parking lot you can squeeze your precious fuel numbers.

Don't divide by 21! Completely fill the tank, look at the display at the gas pump and divide by that number. That is the gallons you actually used to go however many miles. No way you are putting 21 gallons in your tank each time you fill up.

If anything you should be pissed it's not a 40 gallon tank not the mileage.
