Other than a couple day delay due to "return to sender", I think we got @Martyinco squared away. :D

I got the regular rub but the wife and kids found it to be spicy! My next test will be crock pot pulled pork!

If u can take a small bite of the rub straight from the bag and not taste the heat then either there was a labeling mixup or u have a very high threshold for capsaicin lol. That stuff is fairly fiery what with the ghost peppers :)

It definitely has a sweeter flavor profile, which some may not prefer, which is okay! Do check that your bag is labeled "spicy". It would be on the front of the bag. I double and triple check the packages, but I still could have made a mistake. If so, I'll rectify that straight away.

If you ultimately decide it's not the rub for you, I can completely respect that. I will say that we are working on two additional products at the moment. The first is a rub that is more savory, focusing on the salt, pepper, and garlic flavors, while adding some additional complexity to make it stand out a bit. The second is a dust for the pepper heads. It will mimic the flavor profile of the original and spicy rubs, but have a high concentration of heat. It's purpose is to be sprinkled on top of the Pitfaced BBQ rub or any other rub of your choice to add a BBQ inspired heat to your food. Think of it as an accessory rather than a main product.

If you (and your wife!) are looking for anything in a BBQ rub that we can consider in developing those two products or possibly a new one down the line, we'd love to hear it. Suggestions from those that love to eat BBQ are our most valuable source of information.

I appreciate the feedback on the first couple of cooks and look forward to hearing more as you burn through the rest of those 2 lbs. Hopefully you'll find the rub's sweet spot for your uses!

The bag was labeled 'spicy'. And seriously we did not detect any heat at all. My wife loves hot stuff, me just some heat.
I'm not giving up on it just yet. Someone said eggs! ;)

@bvbull200 , maybe formulate a seasoning for general use as opposed to a rub. The rub has a lot of sugar in it, as a rub should / must, but as a seasoning on eggs etc. the sugar may be too much. Just half the sugar and call it Pitfaced All Purpose Seasoning. Anybody who knows what rub is will know the difference, and you'll have another product in your arsenal. There's obviously a demand for it - people are putting this stuff on anything edible :D

Looks awesome! What's your method for making fries? My favorite is peanut oil in a cast iron skillet and on the grill.

I gotta try the eggs thing, too. It does sound good!

I like that idea! I'll talk with my buddy about it and we'll definitely look in to it. I'm so anxious to get the samples back from the production company so we can start progressing on the retail packaging. Such a long wait. Once that's done, and we're past the comp, we need to give something like the all purpose seasoning you mention a real shot.

    Appreciate the input!

I am camping with my parents, so we smoked some cowboy ribs, which took up the whole smoker (GMG-DC). We did the fries in coconut oil on the stove I. Their RV.

That IPA looks right at home in a Pitfaced BBQ koozie ;).

I'm really happy with how those turned out.
