I think this is actually a bull terrier. Either way the picture is bone chilling...

Pitt bulls can be good dogs, they can be awesome dogs its just up to the owners to know how to handle them. I own an American Bull dog, which are the same type of dog a "bully" she is 11 months old and loves to lick the death out of my little 4 month old niece and play ball with my 8yr old nephew.

I dont see why everyone bad mouths pit bulls, they arent a mean dog. They are just like every other dog, it is how you raise them. Pit bulls just have a bad rep because of how they look and people that think they are bad ass's tend to raise them to be mean so they can be cool. Our pit bull is the most gentle dog you could ever imagine. I'm willing to put money down that the dog in that picture is a good dog, and i'm guessing that if he would have bitten that kid it would have been long before that picture was taken.

here's my vicious pit bull with the bright HID eyesGonzo.jpg

this has been the best dog with my 2yr old daughter. anytime she is outside he is right there with her.
There was one time that my daughter started crying because i had to take some sticks away from her and my dog gonzo came running at full speed barking with his ears laid back getting ready to mess somebody up until he realized is was me. Once he seen me he just slowed down and came over to us and started licking her. He is very protective.

i agree,i have 2 yorkies that will attack everyone/anything when they are in "that" mood. i do hate pitbulls. my brothers have them, my friends have them. some of them are nice dogs, some are not. the problem with a pit is when they attack its real bad, when a little shithead of a dog attacks in not life threatening. you can blame the owners most of the time.

Good post ND. You are absolutely correct...it is only a matter of time before that pitbull tears that child's face off.

Pit bulls are like any other breed. They can be taught to attack or taught to be loving. My fiance had two pits that she rescued that were the nicest dogs she ever had. They were afraid of snakes and would hide behind her.
i had a Dalmation that would attack people for no reason and put me in the hospital causing 21 stitches in my right hand as well as a bunch of smaller cuts on my arms. It mostly depends on the individual dog and how they were bred and raised.

granted i am bias but comparing an attack from a pit bull to an attack from a yorkie isn't very fair...

there are many dogs that can do enormous damage to someone if they were to attack and they don't get any heat

almost all dogs could do enough damage to consider them "dangerous" if they wanted to... pit bulls are used for fighting so they get all the heat and its not even the fighting dogs that are that much of a danger to people... they are more dangerous to other dogs... its the people who train fighting dogs to be guard dogs that create a ticking time bomb

hopefully this will all blow over in another decade just like rotties and dobermans were the demon dogs of the 80s and 90s

I think the problem is that Pit bulls that are bred for fighting are selected based on their aggressiveness, and it would take a really skilled trainer to train a dog that's been bred that way not to react aggressively. With good breeding though, they're fantastic dogs.
