Purdy. Is the underside of the legs open? How the heck are you supposed to paint in there? And clean in there?

    Thanks, guys!

Yep, the underside has holes as well, but larger. I had the same concerns before I bought them. SSO (fab shop) convinced me powder coating was the best way to paint them and that cleaning them was no harder than spraying off your frame. The holes seem to be placed so water won't pool, but I'm sure mud and salt will get stuck in there pretty easily.

I couldn't find anyone on ih8mud or T4R forums who had anything bad to say about them, so it must not be too big of an issue. Time will tell I guess. They're definitely stout. They weigh 20lbs more than Pelfreybilt bolt-on sliders for a Tacoma and the SSO's are 9" shorter with no frame plate.

Yeah a good powdercoat will be the solution there. I think its a pain to even clean the mud that gets stuck up against the gussets on my round-tube legged sliders, but spray long enough and you'll eventually get it out of there! Also after they are already powdered and installed. hitting those areas with Fluid Film will make sure they stay rust free in the event of missed coating

Right on. I'll definitely be caking that area with Fluid Film often! My original plan was to paint them in the spring, but once I saw them in person I didn't want to deal with trying to spray those supports with a rattle can.

Yeah Hard to beat powder. Mine have been done for about 5 years now and are still pretty much perfect. If they get hit, just touch up with Rustoleum semi-gloss and you cant even really tell.

Wow, the touch up looks great! Are yours satin black? I wasn't sure if I should go flat or satin. I ended up going with satin.

I think they are satin. (semi-gloss). Flat would be too flat. I think the smoother the powdercoat, the longer it lasts.

I worked with Totally Baked Powder Coating in Freedom, PA (about 25 mins west of Cranberry/Wexford). My sliders are finished and I'll be picking them up tomorrow, so I can't tell you about that powder coating itself, but the shop has been great. The price and lead time was lower than every other place I contacted in the area and their communication has been fast and clear. Their contact info is on the website below.

Just got them home. The powder coating turned out really well.

@MidnightRebel07, I'm ready when you are! I need to pick up an angle grinder to remove the PC around the weld points (that's what the fab shop recommended doing rather than not PCing those areas). Do you happen to have one?

Although I’m sure midnightrebel07 has a grinder (just based on his projects thus far) I’m not to far from him and have a couple if ya need to borrow one.

    Sliders look great

I have grinders, 110 and 220 welders. Gotta figure out when we can get together and weld them onto your truck. How's Dad life going for you bud?

Right on! I'm going to take the running boards off tomorrow or Sunday, so it'll be ready whenever. Maybe when it warms up a little bit? We've had family in town almost every weekend and will for the next few weeks probably

Haha. Dirty diapers and sleepless nights. Livin the dream!

Let's try this again. Does anyone want to take the trucks out Sunday? With all of the flooding I'll be sticking to backroads and easy trails.
