So my wife and I are going to Vegas for 4 days in January. Neither of us have been there before and are looking for some ideas of what to do. We aren't looking to spend $400 on show tickets but wouldn't mind seeing a show if the tickets are reasonable. Neither of us are gamblers so that's out, but wouldn't mind seeing the inside of casinos.
Right now the only things set in stone are a trip to the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon. I also read about this place where you can use an excavator or bulldozer for an hour or two and that seems pretty cool. I also thought about stopping by the Pawn Shop in Pawn Stars just to say I have been there.
Any ideas or advice is greatly appreciated. thanks

There is going to be a lot of stuff to see if you guys are going to hit the strip which I'm sure you guys will. Even if you dont gamble its fun to walk through the casinos and check everything out. I know they helicopter rides you can go on that flies over Vegas and I believe some go to the Grand Canyon as well.....I'm sure it isnt cheap though.

I can tell you which show NOT to go to, Criss Angel. Biggest waste of money EVER. When I go back I'm definitely going to see "O" at the Bellagio. Everyone says it's amazing.

You really need to see Fremont Street at night when they have the light show. Best thing about it is it's free! As far as a great show to see, I would suggest seeing Terry Fator (the guy that does all of the different voices). Hope you have a good time!

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
If you really wanna get in a good thrill/pucker factor, go do all the rides on top of the Stratosphere, they are reasonable if I remember right. Best time to do it is at night fyi, get to see all the lights of the city.

puckstopper, my wifeand I havebeen going there everyyear (minus 1) for the last 13 years for Halloween weekend. There are 2 parts of Vegas, the strip where everything you see on tv is and downtown (Fremont Street). Fremont street is where vegas began in earnest. Binion's 4 Queens, Golden Nugget are all downtown. The casinos employees are more personable and you aren't shoved up someone's ass constantly like you are on the strip. Also, Fremont street has all the skanks and sluts drunk and walking around so you normally see some funny sh**! There are ziplines setup right in the middle of the promenade as well. 10 different casino's all within an intersting ten minute walk. Food and drinks are cheaper downtown too. To get from the strip to downtown on the cheap, wait for a bus labled "The Deuce" to stop, buy a one-way ticket for $2 or an all-day ticket for $6 to get back and forth from downtown to strip. Pawn Stars pawn shop is right off Fremont Street as well. We stay at the four queens casino every year. $40 room compared to $100 plus suits us fine. All we use the rooms for is sex, sh*tting, sleeping and showering anyway. Who needs sleep? I play craps 14-15 hrs a day.

If you have a car, skip the buffets and eat at Rum Runner on Tropicana. Great bar food and prices can't be beat..$6 for a dozen wings, $4 half pound build your own burger..that was in 2005 when I went.

Margaritaville on the Strip is a good time.

Sirens of Treasure Island is a street show in front of TI..good stuff.

Definitely go see Gold and Silver, I love Pawn Stars..didn't get there then so I guess it's a good excuse to go back.

We went on our honeymoon and we did indoor skydiving over a huge turbine from a plane. And also we went dune buggying. Both were quite memorable and exhilirating.

"O" was good, so was the Blue Man Group. We also saw the Lion King and Phantom of the Opera if you are in to shows, they are good. Plan a nice night walk down the strip and time it to see the fountains at the Belagio. My wife went online ad found all the different restaurants owned by famous chefs. She booked one for every night. I liked eating at the rotating restaurant at the top of the stratosphere, pretty cool to see someone falling while you are eating. Also, remember it does get cold at night in the winter.

We were there last November around Thanksgiving for our 10 year anniversary. We had a blast.

Any of the cirque du soleil shows are worth watching. Each one has a theme and depending on what you prefer, pick the show. Tickets range from $55-$105 and honestly, the best price is at the box office. I paid $65 for a ticket and was 15 rows from the front and center. I found that going to one of those ticket places at the mall or off the strip, you are paying $10+ more than if you were just trying to deal at the box office.

    Mystere @ Treasure Island

    "O" @ Bellagio

    Zarkana @ Aria

Zumanity @ New York New York

    Ka @ MGM

    Beatles @ The Mirage

I have seen, and loved watching all of these shows. I also visit Vegas once every month, or once every 2 months.

Aria and Cosmopolitan, in my opinion, are rather youthful hotels, meaning that a majority of people I see there are late 20's early 30's so lots of loud music, dark themes, club atmosphere. I only really go there if I am clubbing that night or trying to pick up a date for the night. haha

If I want to enjoy my day in Vegas, I usually spend most of my time in Palazzo, Venician, Caesar's Palace just walking around strolling the shops. It's a little bit more relaxed atmosphere.

A lot of the casinos do have beautiful architecture especially the ones I have listed above.

I would also recommend staying at the Flamingo because rooms are rather cheap, and most importantly, it is centrally located on the Las Vegas Strip. I HATE DRIVING MY TRUCK THROUGH VEGAS and FIGHTING FOR PARKING. Stay and park at Flamingo and walk to every where along the strip.

Going to Fremont or Red Rock, you're gonna have to drive.

How on earth did you get tickets that cheap. The cheapest seats I saw online were $108 for "O"
