Plano gun case mounted with 1" 1/4 carriage bolts, rubber and fender washers inside and out and then a nyloc nut to secure it all down. I put some silicone on the inside before the washers went on. Hope there won't be any leaks.

Just recovery gear in mine. Maybe the occasional spare part.

They usually ingress water from where the halves meet, and not the bolt holes.

Jumper cables, a few tools for my bike rack, a jerry can fuel nozzle and siphon, ball hitch and pin, all my air up and down items. It was all the stuff I found myself constantly unpacking the back seat to get to under the seats.

Recovery gear is in bag in the bed. Easier to carry all the stuff you need for rigging, etc.

just got a Plano field locker in the biggest size mounted up today. 57” in length. used 1/4” carriage bolts with rubber and metal washers on both sides and lock nuts with nylon inserts. i’m stoked. mounted up there super easy just had to move 1 cross bar over a tiny bit. since i don’t have a RTT yet, i’ll be using it to hold my tent and other sleeping gear. it all fits perfect! 9C4AAB38-A602-4740-9902-9ED13C0D0F8B.jpgC4A109C3-5966-4162-8848-DA74934F5E3A.jpg E0A40C5F-DE5A-49A6-A7E7-BD16702A5889.jpgFE8DC3DE-834B-43BE-A005-DA3076593A3A.jpg D7B00AF1-47BD-4BA5-9AA0-5255C157D7A8.jpgB24E610C-2A3C-4AAE-BB63-DEB9C71F840C.jpg EBF57013-233E-4699-B296-6E2D9A86D162.jpg

I just sized up my Plano from the 36” to the 54”, didn’t know they had anything bigger! The 36” just looks too small IMO.

Anyways glad to see yours fits pretty much the way I wanted— where it takes up the entire cab length. The more popular 42” would fit everything fine for me, the extra 12” is pretty much just so I don’t take out the bottom half of the foam to fit everything (like I did in the 36”). Going to use my smaller case for my camp gear, but not mounting it.

Also... if anyone cares, my super wide paddle boards still fit on the other half of the rack perfectly with these cases mounted. Perfect for my needs.

I really like my pelican Vault V730 cases. Mounted as above, drilled holes, washers, bolt and then silicone. I don’t think there is a truly 100% waterproof case. Anything I want dry I put in a ziplok bag

I have pressure washed my Plano case up top full of camp stuff and not a drop of water got inside. I was blasting the case everywhere too even right on the seam

Whatever pitch you find that uses the corresponding thread pitch nuts.

Noticeable and annoying, I eventually removed mine. Recommend to sound deaden your roof.

Also, my cases warped in the hot texas sun, and no longer sealed, so they’d fill up with water when it rained.
