Good morning TW, I'm considering using black Plasti dip on a 2-3" section of my hood (the flatter section in front of the windshield) to hopefully cut down on the sun glare that bounces off the angle when I'm driving into the sun. Has anyone else done this? I've read that the benefit of Plasti dip is that I can remove it if I don't like it but thought I'd see if anyone has already been down this road. Thanks!

I havent done any hoods but i do have a good bit of experience with plastidip. It wont hurt any thing. Give it a shot and post some pics, might be pretty cool. Just need to try to get it fairly thick. Comes off much easier. Also just make sure the area you dont want painted is covered good, the over spray can be a pain to deal with.

I'm not sure a 3 inch strip would do much. Most who go that route do the middle portion of the hood like this.

And yes, you can peel it off at any time.

That looks good man! A guy could do that on his rockers as well, help protect that paint.

That's not my truck. Just giving an example. I've been thinking of doin the rocker panels just to see if I like it before commiting to paint. 6 years with no mud flaps has taken its toll.

Also to add. I did have Plastidip on my rear fender for a bit then used paint. If you wheel at all It won't hold up well on the rocker panels.

This is what I did with my hood, it helps a lot and I like the way it looks on my silver truck.

Honestly I've never noticed sun glare off the hood being bad enough for me to want to make the hood black.

"Stig" do you own a Sport Taco or a Taco with a Sport hood - the reflection is brutal sunny days.

^^^^ x2 on this. I have a hood scoop and the glare off of it is pretty bad sometimes.

What about a sun visor that sits on the dash?

Or....tinting a 6" strip at the bottom of the windshield where all you would normally see is the hood. It would not impair your view of the road so you would think it would be ok.

Thanks for the suggestions and input y'all. It would take a lot of very good masking to make it look good (and for that reason I may not do it) but the glare in the winter driving south makes me hold my hand up to block the sun and I'm afraid other drivers think I'm either waving at them or flipping them off!

Usually not an option for me, Some days my contacts don't want to go in, or I don't have them. (Or in the case of when I dipped my hood, I didn't have contacts yet)
