I want to Plasti-Dip my chrome badges to black to match my mirrors and door handles (and to get rid of the chrome). How long does the application last? I have seen people do up to 7 coats (which is what I plan on doing, why not while I am going to the trouble to tape everything) and I would think that many coats would greatly improve the durability. Thanks in advance for any/all comments.

I've only done my grill emblem with 3-4 coats and it's held up fine so far. It was one of the first things I did when I bought the truck two yrs ago.

The badges on the side lasted me 2 years before i had to redo them. With 7 passes. Make sure to do it when its warm out or in a garage thats warm. So the paint can cure properly.

Also if you ever want to take them off, WD-40 does wonders.

I did all of my badges 3 years ago this April, holding up fine. I am a low mileage driver and Tacoma always garaged, live in NorCal valley.

    Scratches, dents, lots of squeaks.
I did my 4runners in 2011. Have only redone them once, about 2 yrs ago.

I did 7 coats as per several videos on you tube. It has only been a cpl months so cannot attest to durability yet. One trick I saw online was to immerse your paint can in really warm water for a while before each coat. The warmer plastidip comes out of the spray tip more evenly.
