Plasti dip or emblem overlays?

    If your first gen badges are anything like the ones that I removed from my 2001... you will NOT be removing them in any condition that would be worth repainting and reinstalling.

    Having just personally repainted my entire truck and dealt with the process of removing these badges, my advice is for you to peel them off and throw them in the trash.

    Here are your options as I see it:
    A) Plasti-dip the emblems you have now to make sure you like even like them blacked out.
    B) Buy yourself some new chrome emblems and paint those black.
    C) Find some black emblems and stick those on.
    D) Buy some vinyl sticker emblems and stick those on... hit up @CBoy808 for these
    E) Go with no emblems at all.

    Note on option G: this is likely a bad choice for you due to the suspected age of your paint. There will be a significant amount of discoloration that you likely won’t be able to sand/buff off.
