I just bought a white 2017 Tacoma sr5 4x4 double cab and I'm debating on plasti dipping the stock wheels black. Any opinions on how they might look? I'm also debating on doing the emblems and the Tacoma stamp on the tailgate.

They look like blacked out stock wheels. A few vehicles around the neighborhood have done that on various marquees.

In my opinion, they all look lousy, even when well done.

The good news is you can peel it off.

Tacoma stamp you can do vinyl decals (@rrentrop does them and I have on mine). Plenty of threads for how they look (particularly the white 3rd gen thread)

Just dip em. If you don't like it, peel it off. Easy, cheap mod. Not permanent, but it is a solution given the price tag.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
Which wheels did you get? -- The SR5 4x4 can be had with 2 different alloy wheels. One is silver colored and the other is sort of a dark color (kinda like the MGM body color). I ordered mine with the darker ones and I like them. Look around and you may be able to find someone who wants to swap with you.

I would say that most are not well done unfortunately which leads me to not disagree with you... However, I believe if you saw a set that was properly prepped, sprayed, and clear coated you might just be impressed. It really is some versatile stuff when done right. That said I can admit that it isn't up to the toughness of anyone who would actively offroad and rub it up against stuff.

I honestly think sprayed wheels look pretty tacky. I can spot sprayed wheels, over actual factory black wheels, from about a mile away.

Same, I've never seen it look good, ever.

horrible idea for the wheels, but do what you like for your truck. road debris, car washes, and normal wear will make the finished job (whick will already look like cheap crap) look much much worse... hey, but it's cheap and removable.

I like them. It's inexpensive. It will give your truck a whole new look. For $20, I say do it. If you end up not liking it, you only lost $20 and a couple of hours out of your day. No biggie

I agree. I tried it, and while I thought it looked decent it came off at car washes under pressure very easily. So instead of maintaining it I pressure washed it all off. I'm just gonna buy wheels.

Plasti dip works well for small items and especially on plastic parts. For wheels I would get them powder coated.
