So I walked out to my shop to get into my truck and I noticed this plastic cap sitting just behind the front passenger front tire. What the heck it is? Could it be from my Tacoma? It was not there when I left this morning? I don't park any other cars in my shop only my Tacoma truck.

My bet is a weed wacker, trimmer, or mower part.

Yep your right its from my garage door opener motor on top. It broke the 3 tabs off and flung the cap onto the floor. What the hell? The door opener still works fine. It sounds normal. The belt is still tight. Does not look to be stretched at all. super strange.

Ya I think it is just a cover to. But how the hell does it snap off the three tabs and fling the cover onto the floor? There must have been some tension there or something to do that.

It doesn't look like the belt is right on the pulley in the first pic. My guess is its off the cog and the belt hit the cap breaking it.

Good call. Thanks. I will have to figure out someone to take a look at it and get this fixed. It seams to be working fine. But I guess it is telling me its time for a tune up!

too much slack. look at the belt on the left side of his pic, it sticks out past the pulley as compared to the right ( tension) side.

Is this something I can fix? Is there an adjustment? My door is a heavy wood door. I don't what the door to come crashing down or the motor to give out and let the door crash down!

check the non tension side of the belt. if it seems to have to much slack there is a tension adjuster somewhere on the opener. don't over tighten it, just snug it up.
