Hello all. Yes I got a plastic bed line-xd. My snowmobile tracks are spiked and ruined my truck bed from the beginning. Also, I had paint marks all over it when I bought it from the first owner three years ago.

As the bed flexes, I hear a weird noise. I am able to jump on both sides of the bed (near the rear, between the where the last and 2nd to last bolts are) and it just click crack noise.

This is driving me insane. Brought it to line-x. They torqued the bolts down. The noise went slightly away. But is now back again.

I am told it is because the "line-x doesn't allow the bed to flex the way it wants to." Is this true?

    Driving me insane.

Thanks Beavis. I will have to bring my truck when I get some time off to my fabricator down the street. The functionality of the truck hasn't changed at all. I am able to put quite the payload in my bed still. It's just when I jump on that spot or flex the bed. :(

Is there a possibility the bed is cracked? Have you looked at it from the bottom?

^This. There are molded reinforcement ribs on the underside of the bed. If the ribs are cracked at that location, it could cause the sound.

I looked but the sun is going down here in Maine. I will check tomorrow. Everything seems to be intact. Though, I will find out for sure tomorrow and keep y'all posted. Thanks for the responses TW Members.

Update: My OCD self examined the underbelly of the bed. No cracks, actually in really good condition if you ask me for the weather condition and year of the truck.

I have no idea guys, I regret at this point getting it line xd, not sure why the line x would do this, or what has happened.

What can I do to get this remedied, do I need to go to the stealership now?? I wish I had some of you guys who lived near by to help my newbie ass out

I personally wouldn't worry about it. Like whoever said, the LineX probably stiffens the composite bed a bit so when you put weight in it and it tries to flex a little bit in less reinforced areas it makes some noise. If you took a look at it and the structural integrity is all good to go then nothing to worry about.

Honestly that is what I think it may be. I was playing around with it earlier, and I saw very minimal movement in the bed bolts. But, the bed bolts should stay stationary correct?

I have put 2 dirtbikes, and a lot of gear in my bed all summer. Didn't realize my bed was 100% plastic until I got it line-xd.

So the solution is to put a rubber like washer under those mounts? To raise the bed? The thing is, my bolts aren't raised that much, barely at all. I honestly feel like it could be the actual bed mount's itself, both on the right and left rear side.

Dude. This is what it sounds like. http://s7.photobucket.com/user/outkastland/media/VID_20130822_173123_zpscdf0f816.mp4.html. Except it comes directly from the bed, it is the bed itself I know it. My ubolt flip kit is torqued and properly aligned. Not saying this is my issue, but very similar sound to what my bed is making, not so much the droned clunking sound.

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/performance-tuning/292225-07-tacoma-odd-clunking-popping-sounding-coming-under-truck.html.

Once I get a video Beavis you may be able to really selectively pin point my problem. Please check in.

A few months later and the bed is still making this noise. The bots are not loose, I do not see cracks in the ridges of the plastic bed. The bed feels firm with little to no play when lifting it from the wheel well. This issue is really making me angry and I wish I never got the bed line xd and just left it with scrapes and chunks missing. I look under the bed and I can see the bolts and the bolt washer/bolts have no play. What the hell is going on. If I flex the slightest bit I hear popping noises that are so noticeable that people can hear it. No cracking, no looseness (by the looks of the bolts) and no idea what this is. I feel like I'm gonna have to go to the stealership to get it "assessed." I try to avoid flexing my truck which is absurd.

    crap bolted and welded together....
is it possible the composite bed itself cracked? With the coating on perhaps amplifying the sound? I know you said you cant see cracks from the underside, but perhaps the composite is fubar'd...

I don't think so. I remember what the bed looked like pre-line-x. I didn't notice any cracking superficial on the bed. My bed looks to be in great shape honestly. The chunks were on the wheel well part. The flat surface of the bed had scrapes and your normal wear and tear for a 07. The truck bed never made this noice without the coating, ever. I use to flex the shit out of my truck and never heard a pop like sound.

IDK, shootin in the dark here for sure, but just for fun try these two things:

Close the tailgate. Is the seam with the adjacent side parallel and is there is not much difference in width between the the right and left sides? A few (very few?) have had the support yoke under the fender fail.

Look underneath in the wheel wells. See the support from the fender. Is it broken or loose? A few of these have failed also.
