I've done a couple "poseable" Gundams and you always end up gluing them in a pose or the just ragdoll on you.

Got this as a Secret Santa gift from a motorcycle forum.

Only started getting back into this hobby about 2 years ago after not building for more than 40 years. Eyesight and steadieness of my hands isn't what it used to be but here's what that kit looks like now.

I used some decals left over from some other recent builds to personalize this a bit more.

Been scarce at the bench lately, however today was the first local contest. The tables were pretty full with some excellent work, so I can't argue with what I managed. My 1/35 Lanchester armored car I threw together in a couple weeks took gold and Best Commonwealth Armor, and the T-80 I built a couple years ago took silver. Pretty fun day overall.

I remember putting together the original Revel in 1982. I can still smell the glue.

These kids today with their “thin CA” and “accelerator” will never know the pain of Testor’s model cement.

Yep I had it too. And the B-Wing, and a A-Wing, and a Y-wing, and a few X-Wings, etc. I think my friend and I tried some stop motion filming with that old AT-AT.

Keeping that old Testor's glue away from the clear parts was the real challenge.

The X-wing was very sad. Gigantic box. Tiny model.

Wanted to kick this thread back into action.

Bought a Russian Foxtrot sub model from Ukraine (I think they had all of one and lost it in the annexation of Crimea) and am looking to paint and weather it like the one rotting away next to the Queen Mary in Long Beach. The model is so small (1/350) and the details so thinly etched that I’m a bit afraid to paint it.

I would love tips on painting, say, the vents? How to paint them and their surroundings without filling them in and losing the detail. Nippers added to show scale.

I’m also planning to pour a resin base with green LEDs for a stand. Additionally, I’m planning to surreptitiously obtain some samples of its paint so I can match it; snorkel intrigue.

The sub has been abandoned and closed to the public for many years while the city figures out what to do with it, and raccoons took over for a spell. So the finished model will sport mini raccoons. Who knew you could buy such teeny little bandits?

I continued a bit on my Gundam Exia Model, forgot about this thread so didn't snag any photos. It's got these thin plastic sheet pieces that you have to hold on a hook while assembling the shoulder pauldrons and it's super annoying, finally got them done after re-attaching them several times and then holding tension on them with two fingers while pressing the shell onto the pauldron frame. Need more hands!

Been gradually finishing up a 1/35 Tamiya A34 Comet. Built out of the box except for a couple brass wire antennas. Pretty much just have dust effects left to go. Excellent kit, I highly recommend it.

    20240203_225527.jpg

This is also the first time I have tried adding figures. These are included in the kit and are excellently molded, but I find no enjoyment in painting figures...

    20240219_090046.jpg

You have no idea how many times I have almost bought both of those pickup kits. Can't wait to see what you do with them!
