Just did my first coat of primer.. Everything is going smooth so far.

I'm usually terrible with spray paint.

I am pretty bad with cans, too. Tamiya fine spray (white or grey) is very, very good primer. That's what I used on the tank. But the only time I use a primer is when PE or resin is involved, or when I use alclad for a natural metal finish...

I like Tamiya, but I couldn't find any spray cans in that brand at the store, I managed to get Model Master.. Just finished my third coat of Gray Primer. Gotta say it may turn out pretty nice for my first painted model. :D

Thanks, I've been wondering how much time I should wait in between clear coats.

Those look fantastic and very realist too. I used to do models a long time ago but was not as good as you guys.

I have a buddy who is retired and builds some fantastic car & trucks models now.

Another German friend that I know builds perfect models of "chairs" (about 6" high)... yes famous "chairs" and they are kinda neat too.

Building scale models of anything has always fascinated me and yours look very real.

Cool thread. Me and my childhood friend used to stay up all night working on models, modifying them. We used to try to come up with parts/ideas to build lifted or monster trucks. This was before they actually made them in kits so it was kinda cool. We would find big tires from different toys to make a big truck. Of course we didn't have the detail like in this thread. I wish I had taken pics of some of our "builds".

Great work fellas...Makes me want to start building models again.I was into racing R/C for a while and I really enjoyed painting the bodies. Its a whole different twist on those because everything is painted in reverse lol. All the work is done on the inside.

Just one more clear coat to go! Then I'll let it dry for a couple of days while I work on the other small pieces. :yay:

Probably at least a day... But of course the clear coats come a day or so after the paint dries...

 I did three coats of clear waiting an hour between coats! Nooooo

I'll make sure to stop for now since it still looks decent, smoothed out a bit- No matter how much I searched I couldn't find a decent explanation on clear coating.

How long after painting did you put the clear coat on? Not saying it will happen, but as paint dries and fully cures, it gasses and all which can cause problems. Had this happen to me and had to strip the whole thing... Then there is the whole enamel/acrylic/laquer (don't recall what order is safe) thing...

I waited two hours, the can on the base coat said to wait that long before applying clear coat. Throughout the whole process the paint has been somewhat bumpy(consistent throughout the whole body though), but now the clear coat is smoothing it out. I believe I managed to not get any over-spray.. I'll take a picture later tonight.

Do have an airbrush? Would make it easier to control paint buildup...just decant some into a jar and spray that...

Can't wait to see the pics!

I wish I did, I heard they are great to have.. Probably one of the next things on my list to get after I finish the models that are in my possession right now.
